Development Engineer - R&D Filler Metals (SAW)
Location: Gothenburg, Sweden

We are now looking for a Development Engineer to join our team in Gothenburg. This is a key role within our global R&D organization, where you will lead technical development projects, drive innovation, and mentor junior engineers.
Your Responsibilities:
As a Development Engineer, you will:
Lead complex development projects delivering new and innovative filler metals for ESAB globally.
Drive product enhancement initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
Conduct advanced research and investigations to build knowledge and support future product development.
Approve raw materials and suppliers, ensuring alignment with technical and quality standards.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, production instructions, and control procedures.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Sourcing, Quality, Approvals, and Production Engineering teams.
Act as a technical mentor and support the development of junior engineers within the team.
Your Profile:
We believe you have:
A Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or a related field.
At least 4 years of experience in product development or research within welding, steel, or inorganic process industries.
Proven experience in project leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
Strong analytical skills and a strategic mindset.
Excellent communication skills in English (Swedish is meritorious).
Experience with statistical tools such as Design of Experiments (DoE) and Multivariate Data Analysis (MVDA) (e.g., MODDE, SIMCA).
Experience with big data and LLM and machine learning.
An interest in driving a sustainable transformation of a large industrial company.
An IWE diploma is meriting.
