About the role
As a full stack developer in Government API(GAPI) you will help design, build and maintain the APIs and services that enable MYOB products to integrate with government agencies such as the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and New Zealand Inland Revenue (IRD). These APIs provide lodgement gateways for tax forms, Single Touch Payroll (STP), NZ Payday filing and business number lookup services, and must meet strict security, reliability and compliance standards. You'll join a highly dedicated team, committed to providing seamless and creative solutions that uphold the highest quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain secure, compliant backend services and APIs within the GAPI domain, incorporating AU/NZ regulatory changes (ATO, IRD, STP/Payday).
- Write clean, well‑tested code (unit, integration and contract tests) to protect critical API flows and minimise regressions.
- Collaborate with internal product teams and platform services to support GAPI integration, troubleshoot issues, and drive successful adoption.
- Contribute to platform modernisation and migrations (e.g. .NET upgrades), working closely with developers and platform teams.
- Support operational excellence through documentation, incident response, root‑cause analysis, CI/CD adherence, and auditable, compliant change delivery.
Skills & Experience
- Experience developing and maintaining backend services and APIs (e.g. .NET), including REST/JSON and external system integrations.
- Proficient in C# with hands-on experience in cloud environments and tooling (AWS/Azure).
- Proven experience with database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
- Familiar with Git, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and Agile delivery methodologies.
- Proven focus on test‑driven development, automated testing, observability and building reliable, production‑critical APIs.
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills, comfortable collaborating across teams, with exposure to AI tools such as GitHub Copilot and Cursor.
