General summary:

The Desktop Engineer III designs, implements, and maintains desktop infrastructure solutions, ensuring effective functionality and security. Working under limited supervision, this role addresses complex computer issues related to the organization's desktop services and provides timely troubleshooting and resolution to minimize disruptions.

Key responsibilities include documenting and managing the setup and relocation of desktop technologies, resolving complex break/fix issues, and maintaining desktop management services such as remote control utilities, software distribution, and virus protection. The Desktop Engineer III records user tickets and inquiries, providing prompt support to enhance user productivity and experience.

Additionally, this role collaborates with stakeholders to assess, plan, and deploy new technologies that ensure compatibility, security, and optimal performance for the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain desktop infrastructure solutions to support organizational needs and user efficiency.

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for complex hardware, software, and connectivity issues related to desktop systems.

  • Document, manage, and execute the setup, relocation, and configuration of desktop technologies and peripherals.

  • Maintain and support desktop management tools and services, including remote control utilities, software deployment platforms, endpoint protection, and patch management.

  • Respond to and resolve escalated user tickets and service requests, ensuring high levels of customer service and minimal downtime.

  • Ensure the security, compliance, and integrity of desktop systems by applying best practices and adhering to organizational standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to assess needs, evaluate emerging technologies, and support strategic IT initiatives.

  • Plan and execute the deployment of desktop hardware and software, including large-scale rollouts and system upgrades.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation related to desktop infrastructure, procedures, and support guides.

  • Participate in the lifecycle management of desktop assets, including inventory control and hardware refresh planning.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance system reliability and user experience.

  • Train and mentor junior team members, providing technical expertise and guidance as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support enterprise IT operations and projects.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Reliable high-speed internet connection is required for all remote/hybrid positions. 

  • Must have access to stable Wi-Fi with sufficient bandwidth to support video conferencing, cloud-based tools, and other online work-related activities. 

  • A HIPAA-compliant work environment is required, including a secure workspace free from unauthorized access or interruptions, no use of public Wi-Fi unless connected through a secure company-provided VPN, and compliance with all applicable HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
