Job Summary

The Design Quality Engineer will be based in Zhuhai.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Process System Development in the R&D Phase

  • Responsible for planning and continuously optimizing quality processes for e-cigarette products from project initiation to pilot production, ensuring all R&D stages comply with the company’s quality system requirements.
  • Establish and maintain quality control mechanisms during the R&D phase (e.g., quality gates, quality review processes, risk assessment processes).
  • Quality Control Across Stages & Project Quality Management

  • Develop and drive the implementation of the Project Quality Plan (Quality Plan / DQP), ensuring key quality requirements are fulfilled at each milestone.
  • Participate in major project quality reviews (requirements review, design review, reliability plan review, material review, etc.) to evaluate quality risks and provide decision-making support.
  • Conduct quality audits on key documents and deliverables produced during the R&D phase (e.g., design documents, BOM, DFx for manufacturing processes, reliability plans).
  • Quality Risk Identification & Prevention

  • Lead risk identification and prevention mechanisms across the entire R&D process, including DFMEA and project risk registers.
  • Drive cross-functional teams to define and implement preventive measures early, ensuring potential quality risks are eliminated before pilot production.
  • Pre‑Pilot Production Quality Prevention & Readiness

  • Lead pre‑pilot quality risk reviews, consolidate issue lists, and ensure closure of key risks before trial builds.
  • Develop preventive strategies and early control measures for potential quality issues that may arise during the pilot production stage.
  • Cross‑Functional Coordination & Quality Advocacy

  • Act as the project’s quality representative, collaborating closely with R&D, Engineering, Testing, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to achieve quality objectives.
  • Promote adherence to quality standards and processes across teams and ensure effective closure of identified issues.
  • Supplier & Key Material Quality Control (R&D‑Focused)

  • Participate in quality assessments for key components and materials during the development stage, identifying potential design and manufacturing risks.
  • Work with Procurement and Supplier Quality teams to ensure design‑stage supply chain quality is well controlled.
  • Quality Standards & Process Optimization

  • Develop and optimize quality guidelines, quality entry criteria, review templates, and risk assessment methodologies for the R&D stage.
  • Summarize lessons learned from previous projects and integrate them into the quality system, continuously improving R&D quality capabilities.

Job Requirements

  • Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Materials, Quality Engineering, or related fields.
  • Work Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in quality engineering, project quality management, or R&D process management.
  • Experience in e‑cigarettes, consumer electronics, small appliances, or similar product development is preferred.
  • Professional Skills

  • Familiar with R&D processes (NPI / NPDP) and quality management tools such as:
    • APQP, FMEA, 5Why, 8D
    • DFx, Quality Gate / Gate Review
    • Risk Assessment / Risk Management
  • Solid understanding of quality fundamentals and risk identification for structural parts, electronics, and materials.
  • Competencies

  • Strong cross‑functional communication and coordination skills; able to drive process implementation and quality requirements within projects.
  • High quality sensitivity and risk awareness; capable of identifying potential issues early and leading teams to resolve them.
  • Strong logical thinking, resilience under pressure, and ability to make independent judgments and provide decision support.
  • Language & Tools

  • Proficient in Office software and workflow tools; experience with quality analysis software (e.g., Minitab) is a plus.
  • Good English reading ability is preferred (for reading technical documents or supplier materials).
