The selected candidate will become a Civil Design Engineer. This role supports the design, modeling, and integration efforts for Civil/Structural elements for Sentinel Launch Facilities, Launch Centers, or Test Facilities. This position will be located in Roy, UT.
Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating civil/structural systems design for the Sentinel infrastructure and facilities.
Subject matter expert supporting the design of high complexity civil/structural systems, including structural steel design drawings, concrete forming and reinforcing design drawings.
Review structural design/selection/engineering for modularized fabrication.
Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables.
Participate in project design/model reviews.
Review subcontractors design product quality/accuracy by reviewing civil/structural designs and validating that current standards are applied and integrated into the design solution.
Support the delivery of Civil/Structural facility design Technical Data Packages, Issue-for-Construction (IFC) packages, as-built TDPs, PDPs, interface models, and additional design artifacts.
Supporting structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions to resolve technical issues
Developing and presenting design change requests, coordinating with impacted internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring configuration control of the technical baseline.
Identifying risks and opportunities associated with or driven by design factors and executing handling/mitigation/capture actions to reduce risk or realize opportunities.
Developing and maturing Civil/Structural facility designs that meet Weapon System requirements, UFC, MIL-STD, and other applicable codes and regulations.
Basic Qualifications:
Design Engineer: Bachelor's degree with 2 years’ experience; 0 years’ experience with a Master’s degree
Principal Design Engineer: Bachelor's degree with 5 years’ experience; 3 years’ experience with a Master’s degree; or 1 year’ experience with a PhD.
Active DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application with the most recent investigation completed in the last 5 years.
Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Access Programs (SAP) clearance as a condition of continued employment.
Experience with site development, grading, utilities, stormwater management, operations and property description
Extensive knowledge of cost estimation of site civil improvements
Expertise in project design/model reviews.
Experience reviewing design products, data packages, issue-for-construction packages, and/or as-built data and models for quality/accuracy by reviewing civil designs and validating that current standards are applied and integrated into the design solution.
Experience with structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions to resolve technical issues
Civil/Structural design experience on MILCON or major infrastructure/building projects.
Knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and UFGS specifications.
Knowledge of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), International Building Code (IBC) and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) codes and standards. Knowledge of construction materials and construction details and techniques.
