Join the Expedited Customer Projects team in Distribution Design as a Design Engineer-In-Training, Expedited Customer Projects. In this role you will support a wide range of customer-driven projects, including new residential service connections, small commercial service work, street and traffic lighting, and modifications to existing infrastructure. As a member of this team, you’ll engage confidently with customers and internal stakeholders, set and manage expectations with empathy and professionalism, and contribute to a dynamic group that excels at balancing a steady flow of customer-driven projects.
We’re looking for an Engineer-in-Training who is excited to develop deep expertise in Expedited Customer Projects and grow their career in this space as they progress to their Professional Engineering designation with APEGA. You’ll be supported by a strong, collaborative team with a track record of mentoring and developing engineers through structured onboarding, on-the-job learning, and access to professional development.
Major Responsibilities
Create detailed designs, estimates, work packages, and specifications for residential distribution service projects under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
Provide estimates, planning, and coordination of engineering and construction activities for new service installations.
Liaise with internal stakeholders, external customers, and design consultants; proactively manage client expectations and resolve technical/project issues in a timely manner.
Ensure designs are safe, practical, economical, and constructible while meeting all applicable standards, codes, regulations, and ENMAX requirements.
Undertake special projects as required by the Senior Engineer and/or Team Lead.
Provide exceptional customer service by proactively managing client expectations and resolving technical and project issues in a timely manner
Identify and support process improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Organize assumptions and risks clearly for review and authentication by the supervising Professional Engineer.
Education Required
B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering
Registered (or eligible to register) as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Association of Professional Engineers and Geo-scientists of Alberta (APEGA)
Qualifications & Experience
Sound engineering and operational knowledge of distribution utility systems.
Comfort engaging with customers and partners; strong verbal and written communication skills to set expectations and build positive relationships.
Proven time management and organizational skills; able to prioritize tasks, juggle competing demands, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills; willingness to learn and grow within ECP.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license with no more than 6 demerits; able to attend site visits.

Salary: Engineer in Training Family Level A (Current CUPE 2025 rates)
$81,593.69 - $86,692.06 - $91,790.43 $96,888.79 - $101,987.16
Location: This role is part of our hybrid workforce. Office workspace is located at ENMAX Place (141 – 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). Core in-office days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; you may work from home on Monday and Friday.
