Design Engineer II
Design Engineer II is responsible for initial and ongoing evaluation, feasibility analyses, and optimization of Niagara’s Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing [MEP] system designs. MEP systems include, but are not limited to: product water processing, cooling/chilled water, compressed air, HVAC, and bottling/injection molding production equipment.
Detailed Description
- System Assessments
- Feasibility analyses and utility consumption modeling for expansion initiatives
- Evaluation and support of potential utility system improvement projects
- Remote or onsite troubleshooting of plant system challenges, root cause analyses, and implementation of problem solving solutions
- Cost, equipment, and required materials analyses
- Documentation Creation
- Definition of standard processes, equipment, and instrumentation implementation based on industry and Niagara best practices
- Development and upkeep of system utility balance documentation
- Electrical single line diagrams and loads, compressed air, water, and natural gas consumption
- Development and upkeep of utility system control and operation plans
- Development and review of Bid Packages for procurement of MEP-related equipment.
- Retrofits, Upgrades, Plant Design Support
- Evaluation, justification, design, bid, and execution of utility system upgrades or solutions to plant challenges.
- Development of design drawings for Electrical, Utility, Piping, or Mechanical bid scope
- Development and review of Bid Packages for contracted work or procured equipment
- Projects may focus on improvements to cooling capacity, optimization of cooling flows or pressures to design, improvements to compressed air systems to match pressure outputs to production needs, sequencing of compressors or chillers to enable efficient operation of multiple machines servicing one common system set point or deliverable.
- Cost, equipment, and required materials analyses
- Commissioning
- Onsite project startup support and process adjustment provided to all applicable design engineering areas to ensure ongoing success of plant operations
- Report creation from process startup and commissioning
- Document current system operation parameters and compare actual operation with manufacturer’s design to identify areas of deviation for ongoing operator understanding, or further project modification if deemed detrimental to ongoing system operation.
- An ideal candidate will be comfortable working between in-office system design and hands-on troubleshooting/analysis on the manufacturing floor, while working directly with contractors, vendors, and other inter-departmental customers.
- The position may require 25% travel

- Understanding and exposure to fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, electricity, power systems, instrumentations and process control systems.

- Preferred: Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) or Professional Engineer License
