Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Dermatology Technician II functions as a member of the healthcare team by providing clinical and technical support to assist providers in providing for patients’ care, comfort, and safety. The individual will complete basic procedures and light treatments as requested by the provider and will assist providers with procedures. The Dermatology Technician II performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health Systems’ mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required:  One of the following:

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program
• Documented successful completion of the following Courses or their recognized equivalent
  • Medical Terminology from an accredited institution or completed on line through Universal Class
  • Anatomy & Physiology or Body Structure & Function or Human Body in Health Disease from an accredited institution or completed on line through Universal Class
  • Pharmacology from an accredited institution

Preferred/Optional: Experience in healthcare.

EXPERIENCE 

Minimum Required: One year experience as a Dermatology Technician.  Working knowledge of medical terminology.  Successful completion of the Marshfield Clinic Health Systems’ dermatology advancement test.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.  Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
