Job Role Details:
The Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for managing and executing complex payroll functions to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee compensation. This role requires a deep understanding of UK payroll regulations, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to serve as a Subject Matter Expert for payroll processes. The Senior Payroll Analyst will utilize HRMS software and/or third-party vendors to manage payroll operations, audit employee data for compliance, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize HRMS software and/or third-party vendor platforms to effectively manage the day-to-day processing of employee payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Audit employee data to ensure compliance with federal/country, state/provincial, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Reviews new hires, rehires, and transfers entered the payroll system for accuracy, employing a peer review process to maintain data integrity.
- Analyse and execute assignments of advanced complexity, sensitivity, and risk, serving as a designated Subject Matter Expert (SME) for complex and unique payroll duties and functions.
- Lead and support special projects of a more complex nature as assigned by the Payroll Supervisor and/or Manager.
- Ensure documentation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are current, updating existing procedures and creating new SOPs as needed.
- Administer day-to-day operational tasks, including case load evaluation and quality assurance, escalating issues to the Supervisor and Manager as appropriate.
- Conduct peer reviews of payroll entries to verify accuracy, reporting any concerns or escalations to the Supervisor and/or Manager.
- Update earnings, taxes, and voluntary and involuntary deductions for appropriate payroll cycles by entering data into the HRMS system and/or third-party vendor platforms.
- Utilize data and reporting from work management tools to monitor and ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded, delivering timely service and quality problem resolution.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and other departments to support payroll-related inquiries and audits.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Stay current with changes in payroll laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and process improvement.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead analyst role.
Preferred Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of UK and Ireland payroll legislation, tax codes, National Insurance, statutory payments, and pensions.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g. ADP, Workday, SAP,) HRIS, and advanced Excel.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with employees, HR, finance, and external bodies.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Problem-solving skills to resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, experience with work management and reporting tools.
