Our Asia Pacific Investments business has a large, dedicated and highly experienced investment team which has been investing across the region since 1985, and manages all our Asian products, including regional, country, smaller companies, and sustainable investing propositions.

The team has a strong regional footprint with offices in Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, and Sydney. This breadth gives us close proximity to the companies we own and the markets we invest in. Our APAC operations have been based in Singapore since 1992. We invest in Asian companies to grow with them and to help them to become better investors

The role is to partner with the Head of Japan Real Estate in order to deliver the desired client outcomes for Home, a residential mandate, and to provide capacity and leadership for the growth of the Japanese Direct Real Estate Business. The role has leadership responsibilities for the Japanese real estate business and includes:

  • Closely partner with Head of Japan Real Estate to create and sustain a clear strategy and strategic plan for Home
  • Creation and delivery of Business Plan for Home, to ensure strategic objectives are met, financial targets are achieved, and operational milestones are delivered in a timely manner Take a leading role in overseeing investment transactions for Home. This involves managing the end-to-end transactions process, from deal origination and due diligence through to negotiation, execution, and post-acquisition integration.
  • Leadership of Home team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture. The Deputy Head will also be expected to promote professional development within team
  • Responsibility for  adherence to Global Aberdeen Real Estate processes, policies, and compliance standards  Building strong stakeholder relationships across the organisation
  • Oversight of the selection and ongoing management of third-party suppliers. This includes conducting due diligence, negotiating contracts, and reviewing supplier performance, ensuring alignment with Home’s operational requirements
  • Proactively identify and propose  new product ideas and to develop those into actionable growth for the Japanese business
  • Lead on new growth initiatives, combining capital raising with deal sourcing and product development
  • Key point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships with current and prospective investors
     

The successful candidate will be formally designated as a Key Person on Home. They must have a minimum of 12 years’ experience in the Japanese real estate market, with a proven track record across the major real estate sectors. Business level proficiency in English language, both written and verbal, is essential for this role
