  • Secure exclusive interviews and deliver forward-looking insight from senior policy and regulatory figures
  • Pitch and deliver a consistent stream of original journalism, including exclusives, interviews and analysis (typically 3–4 stories per week)
  • Collaborate closely with the Risk and Regulation Editor to align coverage across The Banker and Regulatory Tracker products
  • Seek opportunities to expand Tracker content through analysis, storytelling and newsletter development
  • Help shape the editorial agenda by identifying emerging risk and regulatory trends
  • Deputise for the Risk and Regulation Editor when required
  • Contribute to editing, commissioning and newsletter production, particularly around major regulatory themes or projects
  • Write beyond the core beat when needed to support wider editorial priorities
  • Ensure all coverage is timely, accurate and tailored to both general and specialist audiences
  • Contribute to multimedia output including podcasts and video
  • Represent The Banker at industry events and contribute to FT Live activity where appropriate

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong track record in financial or regulatory journalism, ideally covering banking, risk or policy
  • Deep understanding of global banking regulation and supervisory frameworks
  • Proven track record to break exclusive stories and deliver agenda-setting journalism
  • Established network of high-level sources within regulatory and financial institutions
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sophisticated regulatory developments
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a clear, authoritative voice
  • Experience working collaboratively within a fast-paced newsroom
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a timely manner

Desirable

  • Experience working with data-driven products or regulatory trackers
  • Familiarity with multimedia storytelling formats (podcasts, video)
  • Experience contributing to newsletters or subscription editorial products
  • Interest in emerging risk themes such as climate risk, digital assets or financial stability
