The Team
Our Global Health (GH) division harnesses advances in science and technology to save lives in developing countries. We focus on the health problems that have a major impact in developing countries but get too little attention and funding. Where tools exist, we support sustainable ways to improve their delivery. Where they don’t, we invest in research and development of new interventions, such as vaccines, drugs, and diagnostics. Our work in infectious diseases focuses on strategies to fight and prevent HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis (TB), neglected tropical diseases, enteric and diarrheal diseases, pneumonia and maternal, newborn and child health.Application Deadline: Application review for this position will begin in January 2026. Your Role
You shape and manage the execution of the TB Drugs strategy, work in partnership with the EDGE team to shape and manage a TB Diagnostics research and development strategy, and partner with the TB Delivery team to drive the introduction of new TB drugs and diagnostics. You manage relationships with grantees, contractors, and key partners to achieve the foundation's desired impact, provide project briefings/updates to foundation leadership, and represent the foundation in meetings with external stakeholders and at scientific conferences/workshops.
What You’ll Do
Lead, shape, and guide strategy to support the foundation’s large and diverse TB drugs portfolio, including goal setting, strategic prioritization across product concepts, advancement of lead candidates, clinical development planning, and impact measurement of product solutions towards approved strategic objectives.
Oversee the design and implementation of a portfolio of high-impact TB drugs grants, including support to robust systems that ensure grantee collaboration, balance in the portfolio, and effective annual planning.
Identify critical intersections between the TB Drugs and Diagnostics strategies and partner with the EDGE and TB Delivery teams to identify priority initiatives and investments.
Support and manage a TB Diagnostics R&D technical expert, in collaboration and coordination with the EDGE team.
Identify, cultivate, and manage robust partnerships within a broad and diverse global eco-system to achieve impact (i.e., pharma, biotech, vaccine manufacturers, academia, product development partners, and governments).
Act as a leadership and thought partner to grantees, helping them achieve strategic objectives.
Lead and guide the TB Drugs team’s efforts in optimizing the level of engagement required for specific team and grantee support.
Provide strategic guidance in crafting grants or contracts, helping to ensure that Global Health (GH) resources are efficiently and expertly utilized.
Provide rigorous reviews of TB drug development programs that incorporate contributions from both internal and external stakeholders, and anticipate mid-course corrections, project impact, and propose appropriate changes.
Support TB Drugs goal achievement, creating systems to track progress and ensure accountability.
Serve as a resource to foundation leadership and programmatic staff on issues related to pre-clinical and clinical TB drug development.
Act as a foundation representative to key program-related external constituencies and committees, as appropriate, related to area of expertise and responsibilities of the position.
Responsible for hiring and managing any talent needed to achieve the foundation’s goals.

Model and coach equitable decision-making, inclusive behaviors, and actions; address escalated issues in a timely fashion.
Your Experience
An MD/PhD or equivalent demonstrated experience, preferably in infectious diseases, pharmacology, or microbiology.
Extensive experience in a relevant product and drug development discipline, including model-informed-drug-development, clinical development with industry and/or global public health required.
Demonstrated experience with tuberculosis drug development required.
Extensive experience managing administrative and fiduciary responsibilities.
Comprehensive experience in scientific writing and data analysis.
Demonstrated experience with regulatory strategies for working in developing countries.
Demonstrated experience in scientific writing and data analysis.
Demonstrated experience advocating and communicating with a broad and diverse audience.
Mastery level knowledge of end-to-end clinical drug development processes in an industry setting with different approaches (i.e., oral, long-acting injectable drug formulations).
Mastery level knowledge of clinical research and/or drug development in infectious diseases, preferably tuberculosis.
Mastery level product development knowledge, including the ability to think through a product development lens and/or collaborate effectively with clinical development partners.
Mastery level knowledge of the global health landscape, including an understanding of the complexities of in-country programmatic work.
Mastery level knowledge of the interdependencies of research, technical development, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, preclinical, clinical, and regulatory functions in the industry.
The salary range for this role is $328,400.00 to $509,000.00 USD. We recognize high-wage market differences in the different locations where our offices are located. The range for this role in these locations is $358,000.00 to $554,800.00 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission. New hires salaries are typically between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process.
