Job Summary: Area Security Officers apply general security knowledge and experience in multiple security disciplines to develop, implement, and interpret security policies and procedures for the protection of National Security. They identify security program requirements; conduct surveys; perform inspections; and monitor internal security programs. They also provide indoctrinations and debriefings and security

Major Duties:

• ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Deputy Director (DD), Office of Security (SIS), Security and Installations Directorate is responsible for the operational execution of a comprehensive, enterprise-wide security program that protects NGA's people, facilities, and global GEOINT mission. DD/SIS leads a multidisciplinary team of government and contractor professionals, manages the office's business and resource functions and serves as a key security advisor to agency leadership. DD/SIS keeps directorate and agency leadership apprised of all evolving security issues and maintains a steady-state liaison with peer security leadership across the defense and intelligence enterprises. DD/SIS will be responsible for leading the daily operations of the Office of Security, overseeing a full range of programs including Personnel, Industrial, Physical, Information, Credibility and Assessment, and Special Programs security, and enforcing compliance with all relevant National Security Strategies, Executive Orders, and regulations across the NGA enterprise. DD/SIS drives process improvements to operationalize security and enhance the effectiveness of the security workforce through management of the office's complete business portfolio, including annual budget formulation, unfunded requirements, billet management, contract administration, and staff development. DD/SIS leads the recruitment, retention, and professional development of a highly skilled team of security professionals, and ensures cross-functional collaboration by developing and maintaining effective relationships, tailored communications, and international/political understanding on the operational environment.

Qualifications: MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of coursework in any area listed in option A, plus experience applying security concepts, principles and practices to develop, analyze, and evaluate security programs, or in a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals 4 years. -OR- C. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience applying security concepts, principles and practices to develop, analyze, and evaluate security, or in a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. -AND- LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Must obtain DoD Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within 24 months. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Experience applying Department of War (DoW) and Intelligence Community (IC) policies and procedures to organizational operations. 2. Experience representing an organization and leading interagency working groups with DoW, IC, or external stakeholders. 3. Experience communicating policies and procedures to senior leaders through written products and briefings. 4. Experience managing multiple, time-sensitive tasks to meet mission requirements. 5. Experience managing government contracts. 6. Experience utilizing NGA products and services to support operations.
