Job Summary: Area Security Officers apply general security knowledge and experience in multiple security disciplines to develop, implement, and interpret security policies and procedures for the protection of National Security. Qualifications: MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of coursework in any area listed in option A, plus experience applying security concepts, principles and practices to develop, analyze, and evaluate security programs, or in a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals 4 years. -OR- C. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience applying security concepts, principles and practices to develop, analyze, and evaluate security, or in a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. -AND- LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Must obtain DoD Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within 24 months. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Experience applying Department of War (DoW) and Intelligence Community (IC) policies and procedures to organizational operations. 2. Experience representing an organization and leading interagency working groups with DoW, IC, or external stakeholders. 3. Experience communicating policies and procedures to senior leaders through written products and briefings. 4. Experience managing multiple, time-sensitive tasks to meet mission requirements. 5. Experience managing government contracts. 6. Experience utilizing NGA products and services to support operations.
