MTTES provides Electronic Warfare (EW) Training Range services to the Australian Defence Force in Queensland and the Northern Territory, and other deployed locations. We operate and sustain a diverse range of EW systems and associated networks and software to deliver the required training outcomes.

This role will be a key Electrical/Electronics Engineer on the Program and trusted technical authority as the Deputy Chief Engineer. Reporting directly to the Program Manager and supported by the Chief Engineer you will be engaging with a multidisciplinary engineering team and play a critical role in the leadership of the Program. You will be instrumental in shaping engineering on the Program, ensuring technical excellence, and driving innovation.

This role requires occasional travel to Toowoomba, Delamere NT and various other locations to support operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing the resolution of complex technical problems and mitigating risks and issues that would otherwise cause delays, impact system availability and performance, and impact critical training outcomes for the Australia Defence Force.
  • Leading the engineering team for the design, development, testing and lifecycle support of advanced EW systems.
  • Overseeing systems engineering processes and assurance activities to ensure robust, effective, and compliant solutions.
  • Participating in or leading major Technical Reviews and Control Boards, as well as conducting peer reviews.
  • Managing Systems Safety Engineering and Hazard Risk Assessments in all aspects of design change and maintenance variation.
  • Providing technical advice and guidance to the maintenance and supply support functions.
  • Providing technical advice and guidance to technical and material review boards as appropriate.
  • Mentoring and developing engineers and technical officers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
  • Engaging with Australian Defence Force stakeholders to align technical direction with requirements.
  • Engaging with other Raytheon Australia programs and International EW Training Ranges, and Australian industry to find innovative solutions to challenging technical issues.
  • Partnering with key team members to ensure mission systems continue to deliver relevant world class EW training outcomes to ADF.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering.
  • Experience as a design authority in an Authorised Engineering Organisation.
  • Experience with and/or qualification in RF Radiation Safety Assessment.
  • Experience in Test and Training Ranges.
  • Ability to influence others and direct them towards a goal without reliance on authority or position.
  • Ability to ensure that an adequate engineering solution is achieved despite schedule and budget pressures.
  • Eligible for Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng)
  • Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security clearance as needed. Eligibility can be found at http://www.defence.gov.au/agsva
