Job Title : Deputy / Associate Manager ESH - Evonik India Research Hub
Reporting to : Sr. Manager ESH - Evonik India Research Hub
Entity & Work Location : Evonik India, Thane
 
Purpose of the position :

  • To support implementation of ESHQ strategy at Evonik India Research Hub (Thane site).

  • Day to day operations and trouble shooting of ETP,STP,WTP, DM plant.

  • Day to day monitoring and checking of Fire Protection and Fire Detection system.

  • Implementation and monitoring of work permit system, FCC station

  • Provide training and Implementation of ESTER – Evonik Standard Tool ESHQ Reporting ( JSR – Job Safety Risk, MOC – Management of Chage, IM - Incident Management, NCR – Non Conformity Reporting and ESG – Environment Social Governance ) to Employees and Externals.

  • Occupational Health Centre activities coordination and management.

  • To implement and drive operational ESHQ . 

  • The incumbent sets the implementation standards for the ESHQ program to improve and manages its execution.

Key Responsibilities :

ESHQ -

  • Monitor and maintain fire management & firefighting system, Workplace monitoring of noise, particles etc., ETP, STP, WTP Monitoring and troubleshooting the performance of the water treatment plants and performing trend analysis.

  • Responsible for the hazardous waste management system in EIRH including filing on the pollution control webportal, maintaining the chemical inventory & approval system for the same. Responsible for the work permit system implementation & record keeping.  

  • Support laboratories for Safety points rectifications, documentations, feedback on ESHQ queries, etc.

  • Implement the SOPs - Emergency Response Plan, Hazardous waste management plan, ESHQ training policy and procedure with matrix, Safety Manual.

  • Conduct Safety Walk with lab team members, Daily Plant Inspections, Monthly Planned Inspections, PSSR for laboratories and utilities.

  • Leading the implementation and ongoing improvement of the EHS management system, including developing, reviewing, educating and enforcing EHS SOPs, checklists, manuals, and policies.

  • Oversee the fire protection and fire detection system, Maintaining and managing fire detection, prevention, and extinguishing systems, maintaining it is operational and in compliance with regulations.

  • Managing the work permit system and ensuring safe work practices are being followed.

  • Reporting, investigating, and analyzing accidents, incidents, and near-misses in ESTER; leading root-cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

  • Ensuring timely submission of returns and forms as per stipulated frequency. 

  • Waste & Environmental Management: Oversee hazardous waste management in compliance with MPCB norms, including disposal via incineration, landfill and to registered recyclers as per Consent To Operate.

  • Organizing On-Site Emergency Plan (OSEP) drills, Tabletop exercise and ensuring readiness in case of emergencies.

  • Training and maintaining Emergency Response Teams (ERT) and First Aiders (FA).

  • Ensuring that fire extinguishers and personal protective equipment (PPE) are properly maintained and functional.

  • Coordinating annual health check-ups for all employees and externals.

  • Promoting the health and safety of employees through ongoing education and risk assessments.

  • Conducting safety training programs for all employees and externals on safety topics.

  • Conducting regular safety talks and ensuring effective daily safety communication.

  • Conducting the Laboratory Safety Committee Meeting and Central Safety Committee meetings, mock drills, and providing safety reports to DISH.

  • Responsible for safety trainings, safety drills, OHC management, half and yearly medical checks for employees & externals.

  • Implementation and Follow-up on audit observations and recommendations.

  • Evaluate the health and safety performance of vendors and contractors and ensure compliance with Evonik standards and contractual requirements.

  • Conduct site inspections and audits of vendor and contractor facilities to verify adherence to health and safety standards.

  • Authority Management Responsibilities -

  • To monitor and manage EHSQ Contracts at EIRH

  • To implement, approach and complete for regular activities of EHSQ

 
Regulatory Responsibilities –
Coordinating and assisting for Environment clearance- MPCB,CTE,CTO, waste management- solid, liquid, plastic & bio waste. Emission monitoring- air, noise, 

  • Fire NOC

  • DISH factory permit

  • Legal Metrology

  • FDA, MIDC, Electric department, water department etc.  permits

  • Excise department 

  • Principle employer registration 

Qualifications: Any Science graduate with a Diploma in Industrial Safety.

Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience with expertise in Safety, Health, Environment, and regulatory requirements.  

Preferred Qualification: Candidates with an M.Sc. in Environmental Science and relevant experience will be given preference.
