Job Summary: This position is located at Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of Inspector General, OIG, Office of Investigation. As the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Investigation, you will be responsible for providing executive leadership and guidance in the development and coordination of OIG investigative programs and maintains liaison with Congress, Federal law enforcement officials, the Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE).

Major Duties:

  • As the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Investigation, you will: Serve as a member of the IG's decision and policymaking staff, and shares in responsibility for the accomplishment of the OIG mission and has significant managerial and executive leadership responsibilities. Serve as a consultant and advisor to the IG, and through their subordinate managers, supervisors, and staff, develops, directs, and supervises on ongoing investigative program that is comprehensive, effective, and responsive to the interests and needs of the IG, the Secretary of HUD, Congress, and the general public. Establish a budget and staffing allocation; direct the work of the OI and is held accountable for the success of the OI's functions or activities, monitors the progress of the OI toward achieving its goals, and periodically evaluate and make appropriate adjustments in the direction and affairs of the OI.

Qualifications: This position has been designated as a Career Reserved position and will be filled on a career basis. Basic Requirement - Applicants must demonstrate at least one year of progressively responsible leadership experience indicative of senior executive level managerial capability and directly related to the skills and abilities outlined under the Executive Core Qualifications. Typically, experience of this nature will have been gained at or above the GS-15 grade level in the Federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or non-governmental organizations. Failure to meet this basic qualification requirement will disqualify the applicant. Evidence must be provided that clearly demonstrates the applicant has the necessary level of executive potential, skills, abilities, specialized knowledge, and technical qualifications to perform as a SES executive. This evidence must include clear, concise examples that emphasize the applicant's level of responsibilities, scope and complexity of assignments, program accomplishments, policy initiatives, and long-range planning. MANDATORY TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (MTQs): The following qualifications are required for the incumbent to perform the duties of the position. You must demonstrate all of the MTQs to be rated as eligible for this position. MTQ 1: Demonstrated experience applying a broad range of Federal laws including, but not limited to, the Inspector General Act, as amended, civil and criminal law, confidentiality provisions and whistleblower protection guidelines; Attorney General Guidelines for law enforcement, administrative, federal personnel, procurement and appropriations laws; Federal criminal law, Federal rules of criminal procedures, the rules of evidence and search and seizure. MTQ 2: Demonstrated experience managing human, financial and information resources strategically, including bringing about strategic change both within and outside an organization to meet organizational goals.
