Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Aircraft Low Observable Mechanic (level 2) to join our diverse team of professionals located at Edwards AFB, CA and Palmdale, CA.

Duties

  • Responsible for all aircraft low observable outer mold line structures, materials and applications.

  • You will prepare composite or metallic surfaces for coating applications by performing various operations such as sanding, stripping, applying vacuum, performing porosity testing, masking and other preparation tasks.

  • You will also mix and apply sealants, gap fillers and any other required processes prior to paint which may require the use of heating devices.

  • Mix and apply paints and other coatings at the proper spraying consistency. Apply additional surface details to manufacturer specifications.

  • Perform or coordinate component-level testing for specification compliance after applications have been completed.

  • May perform similar duties in aircraft build, modification or maintenance role.

  • You may receive additional training and be cross utilized into general aircraft maintenance to fulfill the daily activities and duties required to meet contract requirements.

  • Aircraft maintenance tasks include performing minor structural repairs and modifications, troubleshoots, repairs, and services aircraft and engine systems, and performs maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations. Assigned work locations are Palmdale and Edwards AFB, CA.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experienced. Relevant experience to the Aviation and Aerospace industry may be used in lieu of education.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport.

  • Accept customer furnished quarters for a period up to 180 days away from primary work location and must meet medical requirements which currently includes fully vaccinated for worldwide travel.

  • Willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, 365 days a year.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

  • Must complete the Low Observable COC Pathway program prior to on-boarding.

  • This position requires the ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 50 pounds, working overhead, and accessing small, confined spaces

  • Must be able to pass a physical/respiratory evaluation to obtain and maintain necessary respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aviation and Aerospace Industry Operational experience is preferred over manufacturing or production, but all candidates will be considered

Primary Level Salary Range: $56,000.00 - $74,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
