Cleveland Clinic Akron General is looking to add nine Department Supervisors to their team who will each support one of the following areas: Green, Central, Fairlawn and Stow/Kent. As a Department Supervisor, you will supervise caregivers and the technical and administrative functions of the area you are assigned to. It will also be your job to act as a technical resource for team members as well as implement goals consistent with your assigned units.This role requires a positive, supportive, flexible and friendly person with a natural ability to multitask, problem-solve and handle unexpected issues. While with the Akron General team, you will have numerous opportunities to expand your skills, explore additional roles and interact with new people every day. 

  

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 5:00PM. 

  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:   

  • Supervise caregivers in daily operations in multiple areas such as the emergency department, admitting, labor and delivery, the cancer center, the lab and radiology.   

  • Maintain staffing levels.   

  • Approve and schedule paid time off and leave requests.   

  • Provide leadership and training.   

  • Coordinate and provide orientation and education.   

  • Analyze workflow and procedures.   

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve procedures, processes, speed, quality and effectiveness.   

  • Ensure cross coverage.   

  • Develop an effective work team.   

  • Encourage and support morale building activities.   

  • Communicate with caregivers and provide orientation on policies.   

  

For a Department Supervisor I:

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • High School Diploma or GED   

  • Two years of experience as a work leader, team lead or project manager OR one year of supervisory experience in a related field  

  • Associate’s Degree  

For a Department Supervisor II

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Associate’s degree required. 

  • Two years of related supervisory experience required. 

  • High School diploma/GED and four years of experience may substitute the work experience and education requirements. 

For a Department Supervisor III

Education:

  • Associate’s degree required. 

  • Three years of related supervisory experience required. 

  • High School diploma/GED and five years of experience may substitute the work experience and education requirements.  

  • A Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience may substitute the work experience requirement. 

  • Healthcare experience in a large organization preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires dexterity sufficient to operate a computer.

  • Will require the ability to operate various types of powered material handling equipment.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
