Department Manager – Project Engineering Management

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets. Integrated Solutions Americas is the engineering and project delivery group within STS. Services include front-end engineering, detailed engineering, procurement services, construction management services, and program management for clients in a wide variety of sectors ranging from refining to petrochemical and LNG and beyond.

KBR is looking for a Department Manager – Project Engineering Management to play a pivotal role within the KBR organization by overseeing and managing project engineers and engineering managers, while also supporting the Director of Engineering for Houston Operations within the Integrated Solutions Americas business unit. A diverse background in technical, commercial, and contractual experiences is encouraged for the role. The position demands the ability to allocate project resources effectively, foster innovation in procedures and policies to maintain competitiveness, and reimagine KBR’s project execution and delivery strategies.

Functional job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Functional management oversight for Engineering Managers and Project Engineers.
  • Implementing innovative approaches to meet client needs and expectations.
  • Developing and managing the department's overall budget.
  • Ownership of KBR differentiated engineering management functions, including:
    • Ensuring proper resourcing to maintain skills
    • Succession planning
    • Resource coordination amongst projects for specialized functions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience
  • Knowledge/expertise in engineering execution for a diverse range of project types and phases across the refining, petrochemical, and LNG industries.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including budget management responsibilities.
  • Experience in conducting employee performance appraisals and providing coaching.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • A valid Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)
  • A valid Professional Engineering License (PE)
