As a Department Dispatcher, you will promote a positive experience through friendly, courteous, compassionate and effective patient and visitor communications. Department Dispatchers receive and dispatch requests, making sure to prioritize and align requests with available resources and then record requests in a designated system(s).
This position has many opportunities for growth to transfer to EVS Lead, Supervisor and on-the-job exposure to hospital operations and communication systems. You also have the potential for internal transfer or advancement based on performance and skill.
A caregiver in this role works evenings from 11:00 p.m. -- 7:30 a.m. with rotating weekends and holidays
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Answer and manage department phone calls.
Monitor EPIC (hospital tracking system) and Vovlo (housekeeping request system).
Assign and verify housekeeping dispatches (ensure one task per housekeeper at a time).
Update hourly reports sent via Teams and email.
Manage pest control requests and follow-ups
Coordinate and monitor room turnaround post-patient discharge.
Call Apex for updates when needed.
Communicate across departments (e.g., with nurses for non-housekeeping requests)
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
One year of customer service experience
Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Previous experience in a high-volume call center or dispatch facility
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods•
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment•
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information•
Ability to move/transport items weighing up to 25 pounds (lbs.)
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
