$19.45 - $29.20Major Responsibilities:
Dental Assistant’s activities are clinical and comprise responsibilities 1 – 11 below. 5% or the remainder of the activities are defined as non-clinical and are standard responsibilities for all employees.
1)Assists the dentist at chairside using 4-handed technique for the transfer of instruments and materials.
2)Insures that all instruments and supplies are available for the planned procedure.
3)Maintains a dry working area for the dentist with suction.
4)Exposes and processes dental radiographs.
5)Sets-up and breaks-down the treatment room between patients.
6)Insures instruments and equipment are properly disinfected/sterilized between patients.
7)Maintains tray set-ups for various dental procedures.
8)Performs laboratory duties which include pouring up, trimming and separating models.
9)Participates in ongoing assigned duties which include: drug cabinet maintenance, lab cleaning, gas level checks, spore testing, autoclave cleaning, etc.
10)Provides dental assistant support for the operating room as a dental scrub nurse. 11. Insures assigned treatment room is adequately stocked and maintained at all times. 12. Participates in developing and maintaining quality management activities. 13. Attends all hospital mandatory inservices and education days.
Non-Clinical activities which are standard for all associates.
1)Performs quality management activities which include pulling patient records for chart audits,
2)Completes all required safety and AMG obligations.
3)Attend all required meetings, inservices and training.
Education/Experience Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. 6 months – 1 year dental assistant or related experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Good communication skills. Good customer service skills.
Current CPR Certification. (Will be provided upon hire)

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
