Position Summary:

The Denials Revenue Cycle Project Associate helps resolve existing denied claims, prevent future denials, and deliver more value for athenahealth Collector clients through innovative processes. This role is ideal for someone with strong revenue cycle knowledge who enjoys problem-solving, analyzing data, and collaborating across teams to make a measurable impact.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders to identify denial trends, implement sustainable solutions, and optimize workflows that improve recovery, efficiency, and client satisfaction. If you like turning insights into action and helping clients succeed, this role offers a dynamic opportunity to grow and innovate

Responsibilities:

  • Research and resolve existing denial trends using internal systems, payer resources, and external references

  • Identify root causes of denials, rejections, and claim edits/scrubs, and implement sustainable corrective actions

  • Develop and optimize workflows and processes to prevent future denials and improve recovery

  • Partner with stakeholders across multiple lines of business to align on innovative solutions and client-focused improvements

  • Extract, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends, performance gaps, and opportunities for enhanced client services

  • Translate findings into actionable recommendations that increase efficiency and expand the work we can take on for clients

Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

  • Experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations

  • Proficiency with reporting and visualization tools such as Sigma, Tableau, Excel, or equivalent platforms

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to independently research issues to drive resolution

  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams

  • Experience in coding, patient insurance, authorizations, and payer policy interpretation

  • Basic knowledge of SQL and reporting table structures

  • Experience working with athenaNet reporting platforms

 

Expected Compensation

$50,000 - $86,000

The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates.  Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
