DEFENSE LITIGATION SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Salary Range: $108019 - $140426 Per Year

Job Summary: You will serve as a Defense Litigation Support Specialist of DEFENSE SERVICE OFFICE SOUTHEAST.

Major Duties:

  • You will assist assigned detailed military defense counsel by conducting an expert analysis of the defense case to determine appropriate case investigation and preparation steps.
  • You will coordinate and establish working relationships with the federal, state, and local, enforcement agencies assigned to the respective cases.
  • You will be required to provide testimony at a court or preliminary hearing relating.
  • You will act under the supervision of assigned detailed military defense counsel and under the applicable rules or professional responsibility.
  • You will produce the following deliverables, reports outlining a case plan, weekly status reports on various case actions, reports detailing actions, summary of witness interviews, signed witness statement.
  • You will locate, and interview, witness, and visit, review, and document relevant locations.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Experience conducting an independent, expert analysis of complex criminal cases (such as felony-level or courts-martial) to determine necessary case preparation and investigative steps; memorializing those steps in a comprehensive case plan; proactively and independently undertaking those investigative steps-such as establishing relationships with law enforcement to review evidence, utilizing legal databases (e.g. LEXIS) to conduct background research; 2) Locating and interviewing witnesses, and visiting, reviewing, and documenting relevant locations; 3) Experience documenting investigative activities in clear and concise reports and formal witness statements; 4) Coordinating closely with detailed military defense counsel on investigative steps and overall case development; and being willing and able to testify in a courtroom setting on behalf of the defense regarding investigative steps; 5) Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance; 6) Willingness and ability to travel frequently (local, domestic, and international) and accommodate a flexible work schedule to meet trial requirements.
