What You’ll Do

This is a dedicated Client Management role supporting a specific National Account policyholder on behalf of The Standard. You’ll partner directly with the client’s HR, Benefits, and Payroll teams to administer group Life, Disability, Voluntary, and Absence contracts. You’ll serve as the primary liaison between the employer and The Standard, helping employees understand their coverage and benefits, resolving inquiries, and managing claims processes. Your attention to detail, customer service mindset, and background in disability and absence management will be key to success in this role.

*Candidates working Pacific or Mountain time zone hours are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for the policyholder and their employees
  • Respond to inquiries related to claims, coverage, premiums, and contract details
  • Independently manage claim processes, including death claims and employee support
  • Provide reporting on claim status and Evidence of Insurability
  • Maintain and protect sensitive employee information
  • Build strong relationships with HR, Benefits, and Payroll teams across the client’s locations
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve administrative inconsistencies and improve plan performance
  • Contribute to process improvements and special projects that enhance the customer experience
  • Participate in initiatives related to the policyholder’s life and disability plans
  • Support retention efforts through responsive communication, problem resolution, and professional negotiation

Skills and Background You’ll Need

  • Ability to plan and organize work to meet changing priorities and diverse customer needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated empathy and discretion
  • Analytical skills to interpret and apply benefit contract provisions to complex situations
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks across business units and deliver timely, thorough responses
  • Customer service mindset with the ability to handle sensitive leave and disability situations
  • Experience developing effective business relationships and communicating with diverse audiences
  • Union experience is helpful

Preferences and Requirements

  • Education:
    • High School Diploma required
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred
  • Experience:
    • 3–4+ years of progressive experience in group insurance administration, with emphasis in disability, absence management, claims, or account management
    • Experience with FMLA, STD, LTD, and life insurance (employer, brokerage, or carrier)
  • Software Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
    • Experience with Workday, ServiceNow (or other case management systems), and Salesforce preferred
  • Certifications:
    • FMLI or CEBS certification preferred
    • Life and Disability insurance license preferred
  • Regulatory Knowledge:
  • Ability to interpret federal, state, and local leave regulations

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.

The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data.

Salary Range:

$64,250.00 - $94,000.00
