Job Summary: About the Position: Serves as working leader of 4, employees in accomplishing trades and labor work. The highest level of nonsupervisory work led is Deckhand, XF-5788-06. NOTE: This position is a Permanent, Full-Time Seasonal Appointment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Deckhand Leader without more than normal supervision. Performing towing and/or dredging operations; channel patrol and maintenance of aids to navigation and revetment construction operations, i.e. handles and fastens lines to mooring boats, barges and other floating craft, to secure other craft coming along side, and/or in making up and breaking us of tows; utilize capstans, winches, ratchets, and other deck equipment as required in accomplishing work. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability And Dependability Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Substantial physical effort is required in the handling of heavy cables, equipment and machinery, and when performing mechanical repairs. May lift up to 50 pounds or more. Work may involve long periods of standing, lifting, climbing, walking, and continual hand and eye coordination. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside and outside during a variety of weather conditions and climates, including extremes of heat and cold and heavy rainfall. There is a danger of slipping from floating plant into water with possibility of injury or drowning. On-shore work may involve working in mud, snow, or ice, in dirty or cramped situations.
