Position Overview

The Dean of Student Supports plays a critical leadership role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes academic achievement, positive behavior, and social-emotional growth for all students. Reporting to the Principal, the Dean leads campus-wide systems of support addressing behavior, attendance, academic engagement, and wellness, while partnering closely with families, staff, and community resources.

This role integrates discipline leadership, student support services, and professional development, ensuring equitable practices and proactive interventions that meet the diverse needs of students.

Essential Functions

Student Behavior & Social-Emotional Supports

  • Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive, proactive behavior support systems

  • Lead the Behavior Intervention Team (BIT) and analyze student data to guide interventions

  • Provide direct support and mentoring for students requiring targeted or intensive interventions

  • Promote restorative practices, conflict resolution, and positive school culture

  • Conduct threat assessments and collaborate with internal and external agencies as needed

Academic & Attendance Support

  • Monitor and address attendance trends, chronic absenteeism, and student engagement

  • Collaborate with academic teams to align behavior and social-emotional supports with instructional goals

  • Support tutoring, intervention, and enrichment programs that remove barriers to learning

Staff Development & Coaching

  • Conduct classroom observations focused on behavior, engagement, and instructional climate

  • Provide coaching and professional development in classroom management, SEL, and behavior intervention

  • Support onboarding, mentoring, and development of new and struggling staff

  • Train non-instructional staff in behavior expectations and student supervision

Family & Community Engagement

  • Serve as a primary liaison for families regarding student behavior, attendance, and supports

  • Provide parent education and outreach focused on student success and wellness

  • Coordinate community partnerships that enhance student and family support services

Compliance & Student Services Oversight

  • Oversee and ensure compliance with 504 Plans, Title IX requirements, and McKinney-Vento services

  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure adherence to state and federal regulations

  • Support equitable and legally compliant disciplinary processes

Leadership & School Operations

  • Enforce school-wide behavior expectations in alignment with campus leadership

  • Support campus supervision at events and student activities

  • Participate in leadership teams, PLCs, and data review processes

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall school operations

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Expertise in student behavior systems, SEL frameworks, and restorative practices

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to analyze data to inform decisions and interventions

  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered practices

Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field (required or preferred, per district)

  • Administrative certification preferred

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of successful teaching experience

  • Experience in student support services, behavior intervention, or campus leadership

Work Environment

  • Flexible schedule to meet student and campus needs

  • Occasional travel between campuses and district meetings

  • Physical requirements consistent with campus-based leadership roles
