Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Client Success:

  • Lead and coordinate database services delivery for client engagements, ensuring adherence to SLAs and SOWs.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for complex client issues, collaborating with Customer Success Management to ensure optimal resolution.
  • Monitor delivery metrics and KPIs across client engagements to proactively identify trends, risks, and service improvement opportunities.

Team Development & Operational Excellence:

  • Mentor and develop DBA teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and innovation.
  • Ensure effective resource planning, workload distribution, and performance monitoring across diverse database teams.
  • Drive standardization and best practices for client engagements to improve service quality and operational efficiency.

Process & Service Management:

  • Oversee ITIL-based service management processes to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for service automation and optimization to enhance delivery capabilities.
  • Develop KPIs and metrics to measure and improve service performance and client satisfaction.

Service Enhancement & Growth Support:

  • Identify delivery-led growth opportunities within existing client engagements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and technical reviews for service proposals when requested.
  • Collaborate with business development teams by sharing insights on client needs and service optimization.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Expertise in SQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Proficiency in NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase, and Redis.
  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions including Amazon RDS, Google Cloud SQL, Azure SQL Database, and Snowflake.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing technologies such as Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, and Apache Hive.
  • Strong understanding of database design principles, normalization, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Familiarity with database security practices, encryption, and access control mechanisms.
  • Skills in performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting database systems.
  • Experience with backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.

Required Qualifications:

Experience & Leadership:

  • 10+ years in enterprise database management
  • 5+ years of DB team lead experience managing large-scale database operations.
  • Proven success in building and leading high-performing technical teams.

Technical Foundation:

  • Deep expertise in enterprise database management systems and architectures, cloud architecture.
  • Strong understanding of database performance optimization, high availability solutions, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Experience with database security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with multiple database platforms across various industry sectors.

Service Management:

  • Thorough understanding of ITIL processes and service delivery frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and optimize service management practices in a client's environment.
  • Experience conducting service reviews and presenting performance metrics to client stakeholders.

Client Relationship & Communication:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex client relationships and expectations.

Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $92,000 - $171,000.
