Database Administrator (Life Pharmacy)

The Role

Working as part of the Uniphar Commercial Retail Database Team, this role will have a strong, dedicated focus on the Life Pharmacy brand. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all pricing, product listings, new product development (NPD), and promotional setups for the Life Pharmacy estate are maintained to the highest standard of accuracy.
They will also act as the primary point of contact for all Life stores within the database team, ensuring smooth communication and reliable operational support.

Reporting to the Database Manager, the ideal candidate will be a proactive team player with excellent attention to detail, strong Excel capability, and a desire to grow and develop in a dynamic retail environment.

Key Responsibilities & Outcomes

Life Pharmacy Brand Responsibilities

  • Act as the main liaison for all Life Pharmacy stores on EPOS and database-related matters.
  • Ensure accurate product listings, pricing, NPD setups, and promotional configurations specific to the Life brand.
  • Maintain alignment between Life promotional calendars and EPOS setups, ensuring all offers, price changes, and loyalty mechanics are correctly configured and delivered on time.
  • Support brand-specific initiatives by ensuring data integrity and consistency across all Life store files and systems.
  • Spend 2x days per month (as agreed with Line Manager) out in Life Stores to support store teams & to understand any areas that may be causing challenges to the Life Store network.

General Database Responsibilities

  • Support the wider Commercial Database Team in the day-to-day maintenance and operation of EPOS database systems.
  • Maintain and update product standards across categories, pricing, and branding.
  • Collaborate with wholesale purchasing teams and third-party suppliers to guarantee accurate and up-to-date product data.
  • Liaise with external service partners (e.g., McLernons, etc) to ensure strong system performance and operational support.
  • Ensure all approved products are imported and set up in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to EPOS queries arising from stores.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of database processes and documentation.
  • Assist with ad-hoc database-related projects or commercial requests as needed.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manipulate, analyse, and present large datasets.
  • Strong general IT knowledge and experience with data-driven systems (non-networking).
  • Proven experience maintaining large product or transactional databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to compile clear, insightful management and operational reports.
  • Hands-on experience with McLernons and/or EPOS systems is essential.
  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical, accuracy-focused approach.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with commercial, purchasing, and supplier teams.
  • Familiarity with EPOS systems is essential — this role does not involve networking, Python, or SQL development.

Additional Information

This role is based in Citywest, Dublin, and requires regular on-site collaboration. A hybrid working model is available, reflecting our commitment to a flexible, people-first work environment.

The company’s main divisions encompass everything from International Sales through Sales to NGO’s and Charities, Clinical Trials Supply, Imported (Unlicensed Medicines), Sexual Health Supplies, and the storage and distribution of medical products and devices for third parties.
