As DBA you will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimising databases hosted on-premise and in our cloud environment (Azure). The role entails not only managing the databases but ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of databases as well. You will work closely with developers, architecs and DevOps teams to support the performance, security, resilience, and compliance of our diverse database estate. As we continue our cloud-first transformation, this role will play a key part in supporting mission-critical workloads and driving database optimisation and scalability to align with business needs.

The Technical Developer is responsible for:

  • Manage and maintain on-premise and Azure-based databases across our organisation.
  • Support the deployment, configuration, and scaling of databases.
  • Responsible for the security of databases in compliance with our organisational and regulatory security standards (GDPR, ISO 27001/27701 etc.).
  • Support the design and implementation of backup and disaster recovery strategies (RTO/RPO).
  • Perform regular monitoring & support recovery runs to monitor backup health to ensure data integrity.
  • Support the program team in performance improvements by optimising queries, indexes, and database schemas and suggesting partition strategies.
  • Assist in data migration activities that should include suggesting optimal migration strategies, supporting mapping specifications, conducting data quality audits, etc.
  • Act as a point of escalation for database-related incidents and provide support to business.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to connectivity, performance and replication in databases.
  • Provide input on database architecture, data quality, and scalability to meet future business needs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date database documentation, including schema design, user guides, and technical support documents.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/ information technology, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in MS SQL Server database administration, experience on Azure databases.
  • Hands-on experience in data management tools (e.g., SSMS, etc.) and scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Familiarity with SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL, or similar languages for database development.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based databases and/or DBA certification.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage work independently.
  • Good command of English and Mandarin.

 

Nice to have-

  • Experience implementing security controls, encryption, and auditing
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks and regulatory standards
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and performance tuning utilities.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
