Role Summary:

Cinemark is seeking top talent in its Information Technology department to join our team as a Database Administrator. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded Database Administrator who primarily specializes in Microsoft SQL Server administration with familiarity with other database platforms and enjoys a technical challenge as well as creative engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the health, changes to, creation and administration of databases in the production environment
  • Tier two support for remote SQL databases, as well as participate in planning meetings
  • Participate in general systems administration
  • Own, track and resolve database related incidents and requests, performance tuning, backups, patching, and remediation of security vulnerabilities
  • Focus on managing and resolving issues
  • Manage backup and recovery processes to ensure recovery timelines can be met
  • Assist application development team in environmental restores
  • Notification/Alerts management and resolution (e.g. SQL Agent Job Failures, Capacity Shortages, System Outages, etc.)
  • Fluent understanding of basic database instance maintenance tasks (e.g. DB Integrity Checks, Index Maintenance, etc.)
  • Ability to configure security within established guidelines and perform related task/audits
  • Work with business stakeholders on internal and third-party audits
  • Deployment of database change scripts provided by application development team
  • Advise developers on the most efficient database design (tables, datatypes, stored procedures, etc.)
  • Build and maintain documentation related to the company’s database environment
  • Initiating and performing changes in production systems

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, SQL Server certifications, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator
  • Solid understanding/experience securing MS SQL server
  • Experience managing database servers both on premises along with cloud environments utilizing virtualization or PaaS services, such as Azure SQL.
  • Experience with Postgres SQL
  • Experience with Azure cloud management, including familiarity with Power BI, Fabric, or Synapse
  • Experience with securely linking MS SQL servers
  • Experience with MS SQL data replication
  • Experience resolving MS SQL performance issues
  • Understanding of MS SQL tuning (including storage allocation, scheduled tasks)
  • Experience with MS SQL maintenance plans
  • Strong MS SQL troubleshooting skills
  • Solid scripting capabilities (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
  • Strong skills related to automated maintenance plans
  • Breadth of experience with databases of various sizes and criticality
  • Experience with modifying stored procedures, triggers, and database designs in a production environment
  • Good understanding of Indexing and its impact on server performance
  • Solid communication skills/ability to create documentation for non-MS SQL specialists
  • Ability to discover problems in a large multi-facet environment, and then convince management to acquire resources to solve issues
  • Ability to take ownership and create good documentation
  • Ability to take ownership of an issue and take it to completion
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to install and configure new SQL Servers/SSRS instances and upgrade existing instances
  • Ability to work with other teams on server level issues to prevent/resolve issues as needed
  • Firm comfort level with learning new things
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Customer service-oriented mentality
  • Experience with Active Directory
  • Broad, general systems administration experience
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to write documentation for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
  • Experience with managing many production databases
