Job Description:

Support new applications and system to automate data workflows in support of SSR’s Technical Data Center. Deliver products that increase the efficiency of the workflows required to enable robust change management for the systems controlling the aggregation of site operating data into the data streams from SSR’s mining operations. Maintain current applications and services to maximize company utilization to drive the business to a new level of accountability. Continuously monitoring all processes and working towards innovating to the best practices.

Day to Day:

The Data Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for developing and executing the systems that allow for efficient and automated change management of the Technical Data Center itself. Including duties outlined below:

  • Apply technology to drive efficiency, productivity and increase sustainability within SSR’s operations and Data and Analytics Framework.

  • Adhere to SSR’s innovation roadmap standard and provide guidance for innovation strategy and roadmap aligned with the company goals.

  • Implement automated CI/CD workflows for efficient change management of the SSR Technical Data Center.

  • Develop change management tools that incorporate the communication and checks required for interfaces with corporate IT and the Internal Audit groups.

  • Interface with Internal Risk/Audit teams to build the governance system around SOX inscope data streams.

  • Support the development and implementation of a framework that provides relevant, data driven insight to improve development workflows across all fronts.

  • Manage the issues, releases, communication of changes/features and overall versioning for the SSR Technical Data Center.

  • Be fluent in the use of tools such as .NET Core, Python, Lua, SQL, React, Gitlab, and docker solutions.

Work is performed with broad authority and autonomy, receiving some direction. Problem resolution and experimentation requires a substantial degree of resourcefulness to originate new methods of analysis and / or methods of communication to senior management. Work is highly specialized in its complexity and involves a high degree of independent judgment to develop strategies to correctly scope, evaluate, plan and execute projects and improvement initiatives to their ultimate successful completion.

Is This You?

  • University degree in Engineering with programming background or Computer Science Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years of technical work experience, preferably in a mining company with exposure to IT systems, Internal Controls, CI/CD, Gitlab.

  • Ability to problem solve through thinking systematically, experimentation, and applying innovative and disruptive solutions.

  • Ability to interface well at all levels of the company from site staff through to senior management.

  • Excellent proven communications skills and experience in delivering presentations in verbal and written mediums to multiple levels of management, technical and operational staff, and to a multi-cultured workforce.

  • Detailed knowledge of operational technology and resourcefulness to remain up to date with trending technologies.

  • Excellent skills in the use of multiple programming languages, database types, and knowledge of the many data transfer protocols used in the mining industry.

  • Excellent skills in virtualization and container orchestration. Kubernetes, docker, helm.

  • Familiarity with basic networking protocols.

  • Knowledge of python, SQL, .NET, React, Lua, docker, Kubernetes, helm, Gitlab are required.

  • Willingness to learn new technology.

For applicants residing in CO, the salary range for this role is from $115-$130,000. Benefits: 401(k); medical/dental/vision insurance; employee share purchase plan, PTO, and STI.
