Data Strategy Lead

Who You’ll Work With:

You’ll join our US Retail Business Intelligence (BI) team—a group of data-driven problem solvers passionate about turning information into actionable insights. The BI team partners closely with sales, marketing, and technology teams to deliver advanced analytics, intuitive dashboards, and business reporting that empower strategic decisions and drive sales growth.

As part of this collaborative environment, you’ll work alongside professionals who combine technical expertise with deep industry knowledge to create scalable solutions that make a measurable impact. Together, we integrate internal and third-party data sources, uncover opportunities, and communicate insights that shape the future of our US Retail business.

What You’ll Do:

Data Process Optimization & Vendor Management

  • Develop and refine criteria and methodologies for evaluating new data sources and vendors.

  • Automate workflows for data intake, ensuring efficient, secure, and scalable ingestion.

  • Serve as liaison between AB data teams and third-party vendors to enable both short- and long-term data strategy solutions.

  • Establish processes for identifying, intaking, and assessing new data sources, including alternative solutions as needed.

Strategic Data Leadership & Campaign Creation

  • Lead the design and execution of targeted sales campaigns, leveraging data-driven insights to maximize impact.

  • Develop and evolve advisor opportunity scoring frameworks and campaign logic for strategic initiatives.

Technical Development & Innovation

  • Advance technical capabilities in SQL, Power BI, and data automation.

  • Lead technical execution for data ingestion, reporting, and scoring models.

Industry Engagement & Networking

  • Participate in industry conferences, webinars, and networking events to identify new data opportunities and stay informed on trends.

Documentation & Data Governance

  • Contribute to comprehensive documentation and requirement analysis.

  • Partner with technology teams to implement data governance and enhance data quality.

Collaboration, Stakeholder Engagement & Business Enablement

  • Build strong relationships across BI, sales, IT, and third-party vendors to facilitate cross-functional projects and serve as a bridge between business and technology teams.

  • Proactively engage stakeholders for feedback, requirement analysis, and iterative improvement.

  • Deepen understanding of AB’s products, client segments, and sales enablement technologies to foster a data-driven culture and generate ideas that support achievement of US Retail strategic business goals.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field; advanced degrees (MS/MBA) preferred.

  • 5+ years’ experience in a data-related field—developing analytical strategies, BI capabilities, and data-driven decision-making roadmaps.

  • Background in retail distribution within asset management and associated third-party data sources (DST Walletshare, LPL, Morgan Stanley, UBS, Wells Fargo, Raymond James, Ameriprise, FINTRX, Envestnet, Discovery, BrightScope, Broadridge).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple delivery timelines and complex projects.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to collaborate across departments and levels to develop solutions and influence outcomes.

  • Intellectual curiosity, drive for excellence, and comfort with ambiguity.

  • Strong understanding of modern data platforms and designs.

  • Expertise with data visualization tools (MicroStrategy, Tableau, Power BI).

  • Experience with SQL and Excel highly desired.
