This role is based in the Real-World & Clinical Data Strategy (RWCDS) team which drives data excellence and analytics to power enhanced decision-making and evidence-generation within Roche Product Development. We develop and implement data strategies that unlock the value of clinical, operational, and real-world data to accelerate evidence generation, decision-making, and innovation across PD and beyond. By embedding FAIR principles, advancing data governance, and enabling data productization, RWCDS ensures that data is not only findable and usable, but also a driver of scientific rigor, regulatory readiness, and AI-powered transformation. Through deep partnerships with internal functions and external collaborators, we shape a future-ready data ecosystem that supports personalized healthcare and efficient drug development.

The Opportunity: 

The Data Strategy & Analytics Lead in RWCDS leads the implementation of data strategies across a therapeutic area, ensuring effective integration of real-world and clinical data into decision-making processes. Reporting to the TA Lead, this role is accountable for translating therapeutic area needs into actionable data standards and solutions, aligning RWCDS capabilities to drive scientific and strategic value. The role also manages a team of data strategists and analysts supporting delivery and innovation across the TA portfolio.

  • You spearhead development of small-mid size/complexity disease area data strategies and analytics plans inline with therapeutic area-level strategies and business needs

  • You serve as an SME and trusted partner to disease area-level cross-functional partners ensuring disease area strategies meet business needs and influencing decisions based on data-driven insights

  • You oversee the integration of real-world, clinical, and operational data into fit-for-purpose data marts and data products ripe to influence cross-functional decisions and evidence generation

  • You partner with data stewards to ensure cross-PDD governance frameworks meet disease area needs

  • You ensure alignment with RWCDS governance frameworks and data quality standards

  • You provide subject matter expertise in data interpretation and methodological rigor across analytics use cases

  • You contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives to advance data enablement, accessibility, and standardization

  • You lead and mentor a team of data strategists and analysts, fostering a culture of scientific curiosity and impact

  • You set clear priorities and performance expectations aligned with functional and therapeutic area goals

  • You support capability development and strategic resourcing within the team

  • You partner with functional leaders and P&C to attract, develop, and retain top data talent

Who you are:

  • You hold a Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Life Sciences, Epidemiology, or a related field

  • You have significant experience in data strategy, clinical development, or evidence generation in the healthcare or life sciences industry; a track record in leading teams in matrixed or functional settings

  • You possess a deep understanding of the clinical development lifecycle and how data supports decision-making across phases

  • You possess strong collaboration and communication skills with proven experience influencing across scientific and business stakeholders

  • You have a capacity for independent thinking and ability to make decisions based upon sound principles

  • You possess excellent strategic agility including problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and agility that extends beyond technical domain

  • You demonstrate respect for cultural differences when interacting with colleagues in the global workplace

  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically in the areas of presentation and writing, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear language

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and use of RWD/RWE in submissions

  • Experience working in a global or cross-functional setting

  • Familiarity with FAIR data principles and enterprise data governance

  • Demonstrated experience in TA-specific data applications and integration
