ArianeGroup GmbH in Ottobrunn or Bremen is looking for a ‘Data Scientist (m/f/d)’ for the department ‘Data Management’ with immediate effect.

Your main tasks and activities:

Within the ‘Data Management’ team, the Data Scientist will have the main mission to conceptualize, plan, and implement the Artificial Intelligence (AI) function for use cases assigned to the Data & AI pole of ArianeGroup. They will collaborate with various internal and external experts around AI initiatives to create added value and increase operational and strategic efficiency in all sectors of ArianeGroup's activities. The selected candidate will play an advisory role with the different business units of the company regarding the optimal use of AI technologies and massive data processing.

Responsibilities:

Participate in the development and deployment of the AI and Data Analysis strategy for use cases:

Process AI and data analysis application cases in several functional areas:

  • Monitor and regularly evaluate the impact and performance of solutions implemented within ArianeGroup's information system.

  • Choose and / or develop relevant AI models for each identified use case:

    • Select the best algorithms based on the specific needs of each application;

    • Participate in the development cycle to implement AI algorithms;

    • Adapt and evolve these models according to the constraints of different business units;

    • Supervise their deployment and ensure their scalability;

    • Coordinate their interactions with other software systems or hardware components;

    • Design AI-based solutions, developing applications using Generative AI / Large Language Model (LLM) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures

Change Management:

  • Promote knowledge sharing and stimulate innovation through collaborative workshops, hackathons, thematic workshops and seminars;

  • Contribute to the internal expert network with key internal players;

  • Participate in the cross-functional acculturation of internal teams and managers by driving change management in collaboration with experts through training, workshops and demonstrations.

Actively contribute to the preparation of technical offers related to AI and Data Science projects:

  • Provide expert support in identifying and qualifying client needs by proposing innovative solutions based on state-of-the-art AI, integrating them into ArianeGroup's information system architecture.

You have the following qualifications:

  • PhD or engineering degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, statistics, applied mathematics, physics, or any related field;

  • At least 5 years of experience as a senior consultant or engineer in AI and data science;

  • Proficiency in fundamental concepts and commonly used tools in the following disciplines: machine learning/deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing (NLP), and generative AI;

  • Good knowledge of popular open-source frameworks such as TensorFlow, LangChain, Vanna.ai, Dataiku, and LLM models;

  • Entrepreneurial spirit focused on achieving quick tangible results;

  • Ability to work in a team and propose consensual solutions within a distributed Franco-German organization.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with both technical and non-technical audiences;

  • Fluent in English; German and French knowledge would be a plus

In Bavaria, near Munich, the Ottobrunn site is ArianeGroup’s European centre of excellence for the development and production of space engine combustion chambers for launchers or satellites. The combustion chambers for Ariane 6’s liquid propulsion engines – Vulcain 2.1 and Vinci – are built here, along with that of the Prometheus® reusable engine. The site is also a centre of excellence for 3D printing and the production of cryogenic valves.
