M&T Bank

Data Scientist III: Sales Intelligence Modeler

Buffalo, NY Full time

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship, meaning you will need to be able to secure and maintain work authorization without the need for a written submission by the company to a government agency, or the need for the company to make an entry as the immigration employer of record (e.g., STEM OPT training plan, I-20 Form endorsed for CPT, TN employer, etc.)

OVERVIEW:

Design and operationalize scalable, reliable data assets that transform complex, cross‑channel, and often fragmented business line data into actionable intelligence. Own the end‑to‑end data model—translating business logic into governed, AI‑ready datasets that consistently serve downstream analytics, agentic capabilities, and automated decisioning. Your work becomes the foundation for enterprise‑wide sales intelligence capabilities and next‑generation banker experiences, within the growing Enterprise Sales Enablement team.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Transform large and complex cross‑channel datasets into clean, well‑organized, and trustworthy structures by sourcing, ingesting, profiling, and validating data—ensuring stability and consistency across development and production.
  • Translate messy, unstructured, or ambiguous data into clear schemas, attributes, and data models that reflect real business logic and support consistent, scalable downstream analytics and intelligence capabilities.
  • Apply statistical, econometric, and machine‑learning methods—such as classification, clustering, sampling, and pattern analysis—to enrich data assets, validate assumptions, and create reusable components that support broader modeling and decisioning needs.
  • Convert business logic into conformed semantics (entities, relationships, identifiers, and rules) by partnering with stakeholders across sales, enablement, and platform teams.
  • Build and govern agentic‑ready datasets with documented lineage, metadata, quality checks, and documentation, to ensure trust, reuse, and predictable performance.
  • Optimize for downstream consumption (analytics, BI, and AI/agent use‑cases) by designing stable keys, conformed dimensions, and consistent definitions that reduce consumer cycle time.
  • Own the product lifecycle of data assets—manage backlog/prioritization, publish release notes, instrument data health (freshness, completeness, drift), and iterate based on user feedback and outcomes.
  • Work hands‑on across the stack (from ingestion and transformation to publishing and documentation), balancing technical build with stakeholder discovery in a small, high‑impact team.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
