Job Description:

TD's Analytics, Insights and Artificial Intelligence (AI2) team provides consultative support with data & analytics-based business insights and/or solutions to guide decision making and/or strategic planning. AI2 is an exciting team to be a part of as we are transforming how we provide key insights and opportunities for our business partners to better serve our customers.

Job Summary

The Data Scientist II role will be responsible for collecting data and using wide range of data science techniques, including but not limited to data wrangling, profiling and visualization, statistical inference, to uncover actionable insights or build analytics solutions that guide decision making and strategic planning.

Job Description

Reporting to Senior Manager, Analytics & Insights, this role will help drive and support TD Wealth client engagement initiatives in analytical, process development, and execution capacities. This role will primarily focus on providing data-driven insights to support various business initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work autonomously within Direct Investing business management function.
  • Solicit and offer ideas for improving business processes through insights with the objective of improving effectiveness and efficiency, become a data and subject matter expert to become a valuable and strategic partner who can provide thought leadership.
  • Work with various sources of data using Python, PySpark and other tools to generate analysis and reporting
  • Undertake and complete a variety of data science/analytics projects and initiatives requiring specialist knowledge and/or the integration of cross functional processes within own area of expertise.
  • Focus on short- to medium- term issues (range from ad-hoc tasks to 6~12 month projects).
  • Develop insightful, functional and appealing data visualization via Tableau or Power BI to facilitate self-serve insights generation and actioning
  • Provide proactive value-added insights (both verbal and written) in the form of analysis, interpretation and advice to highlight further business opportunities
  • Project manage and communicate with stakeholders and partners to deliver on milestones and to manage timelines and SLA
  • Manage partner inquiries, problem resolution, providing updates and communication including presentation and training as necessary
  • Actively contribute to enhancing the team’s foundational and scalable processes and best practices for data extraction, manipulation, archiving, provision of insights, team de-risking needs and reporting development techniques
  • Work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, challenging data and technology environment that leverages multiple databases and tools
  • Work individually or as a team leveraging each other's knowledge and expertise
  • Contribute to a positive team dynamics including collaboration, sharing best practices and creating documentation to support sustainable  delivery of analytics solutions.
  • Contribute to a fair, positive and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank, both internally and/or externally
  • Oversee and/or independently perform tasks from end to end.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • Strong PySpark coding skills, SQL scripting skills, statistical analysis skills
  • Strong problem solving skills, solid background working with data and conducting analysis or planning complex data flows and processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to build relationships, effectively interact, influence and motivate individuals at all levels of the organization to make an impact
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to communicate quantitative/ qualitative information and key messages in a clear and compelling way
  • Detail oriented with excellent organization skills and ability to effectively manage work under tight timelines and changing priorities
  • Disciplined with a proven track record of delivering results and self-motivation
  • Experience in working with TD's proprietary systems, processes and applications and/or a business analysis/reporting function would be considered an asset

Education

  • Advanced university degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics or other analytically based discipline

Technical Knowledge/Skills

  • 3+ years' experience in mining, analyzing and visualizing large amounts of data and programming skills using Python, PySpark, SQL
  • Familiar with Azure cloud, Databricks, Alteryx
  • Experience with creating Tableau or Power BI dashboards
  • Hands on experience with data processing and engineering skills
