What you’ll do
As a Data Scientist in the Planning & Allocation team, you will be a strategic contributor to our enterprise analytics ecosystem. Your role involves designing and delivering scalable, modern data solutions using tools such as Power BI, Azure Synapse Analytics, SQL, Python, Power Automate & Databricks. You'll also have opportunities to explore and integrate emerging AI-powered tools like Copilot and ChatGPT.
Engage with stakeholders and team members to clarify business requirements and define analytical solutions
Identify and implement improvements in business processes through changes in modeling approaches or data strategy.
Stay current with Microsoft analytics/BI/cloud technologies, recommending improvements and innovations.
Develop robust BI and analytics solutions using Power BI, with an emphasis on creating self-serve tools for business partners.
Design, build, and optimize dashboards, data visualizations, data pipelines, and models for various analytical needs.
Handle ad-hoc analytical requests as needed.
Ensure data quality, governance, and performance across data assets.
Work with data from multiple banners (e.g., Canadian Tire, SportChek, Mark’s) and subject areas (e.g., sales, margin, inventory).
Design and implement predictive and generative AI models using Python to create store sales plans based on historical data and company strategies.
Identify opportunities to expand door counts by leveraging customer data and market trends.
Cleanse and manipulate large datasets efficiently for analysis.
Provide recommendations to improve business processes through automation.
Collaborate with product and business teams to translate strategic goals into data-driven solutions.
Extract actionable insights from complex datasets and present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
What you bring

3+ years in BI development, data engineering, or analytics.
Advanced SQL and Power BI (DAX, Power Query)
Familiarity with Databricks and AI tools like Copilot or ChatGPT.
Experience with data governance, large datasets, and statistical models.
Programming in Python/SAS/R; Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Attention to detail; structured analytical approach.
Strong verbal and written communication; self-driven technical skill development.
Creative problem-solving and independent work in ambiguous environments; proactive in taking initiative to solve problems.
Proactive collaboration with stakeholders; team player valuing continuous improvement.

Our typical hiring range is between $41.00 and $67.00 CAD Hourly . Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, job-related knowledge, skills and competencies, market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements.
