About the Role
The Computer Vision Data Science Manager will lead a team of deep learning scientists responsible for building and scaling advanced computer vision solutions. This role combines people leadership, technical guidance, and strategic vision to deliver high-impact AI systems that transform visual data into actionable insights and automated decision-making capabilities.
The manager will act as a senior technical reference for computer vision and multimodal AI initiatives, ensuring the development of scalable and production-ready models. The role also involves defining the long-term vision for the capability, enabling innovation across areas such as object detection, image classification, multimodal understanding, and synthetic data generation.
What you'll do
- Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing team of computer vision and generative AI scientists, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven environment.
- Technical Leadership: Guide the design, development, and deployment of scalable computer vision systems for tasks such as object detection, classification, visual similarity, and multimodal understanding, ensuring strong engineering and modeling practices.
- Strategic Direction: Define and drive the short-, mid-, and long-term strategy for computer vision and generative AI initiatives, aligning technical investments with business priorities and product needs.
- Model & Platform Excellence: Oversee the development of robust deep learning models and production-ready ML systems, promoting scalable training, inference, and deployment pipelines using modern MLOps practices and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Cross-functional Impact: Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to prioritize initiatives, translate business challenges into AI solutions, and deliver measurable impact.
- Innovation & Best Practices: Stay at the forefront of advancements in computer vision and generative AI, bringing new techniques, tools, and methodologies into the team to continuously improve capabilities and accelerate experimentation.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or another quantitative field; a Master’s or PhD is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience leading data science or machine learning teams, with strong people management and mentoring skills.
- Deep expertise in computer vision and deep learning, including object detection, image classification, and visual similarity techniques.
- Experience working with multimodal models and transformer-based architectures.
- Strong experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Strong experience building and deploying machine learning systems in production environments using software development best practices.
- Experience with cloud environments and distributed data processing, especially Azure, Databricks, and Spark.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate complex technical topics into business value.
- Advanced English proficiency and experience working in global cross-functional environments.
Nice to have
- Experience with emerging computer vision approaches such as scene reconstruction, synthetic data generation, or simulation-based training environments.
- Familiarity with generative AI techniques applied to visual data, including multimodal or vision-language models.
- Experience working in innovation-driven environments, early-stage AI initiatives, or contributing to the development of production-grade software systems.
