Data Quality Specialist (Lead) – Data Governance
SUMMARY:
Motion Industries is seeking a Data Quality Analyst (Lead) to join our Data Governance Team. The Data Quality Analyst (Lead) is an analytical thinker within the Data Governance Program that drives initiatives to ensure Motion Data is trustworthy, harmonized and fully prepared to support advanced analytics and AI.
The Data Quality Analyst (Lead) will help define and operationalize enterprise data quality standards across data domains, partner closely with data stewards, analytics, and IT MDM teams by promoting transparent data incident management for monitoring and assisting in the remediation of data concerns.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, strategically minded, curious, and comfortable experimenting with innovative approaches to continuously advance governance maturity and strengthen a culture of trusted, high-quality data.
Must be eligible to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
JOB DUTIES
- Assist Data Governance Program Manager in the creation of an enterprise data quality program across established Motion data domains by helping define standards, controls and shared expectations for CDEs, metrics, regulatory reporting, operational performance and AI-ready data.
- Profile and assess the quality of data by utilizing advanced tools and techniques to analyze data quality characteristics such as completeness, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
- Implement data cleansing projects and strategies to rectify identified data quality issues and discrepancies.
- Investigate and resolve data quality issues in a timely manner, collaborating with relevant stakeholders as needed.
- Work with IT and business teams to address underlying issues and implement corrective actions (root-cause analysis).
- Prepare reports on data quality metrics, trends and issues for management and relevant business stakeholders.
- Provide guidance, mentorship and training to business and IT team members to incorporate data quality best practices and standards across our delivered services and technology platforms.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Management, Statistics or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience considered.
- 3-5+ years of experience in Data Quality for complex or federated data governance environments by implementing enterprise DQ programs, policies, standards and controls across multiple domains.
- 3-5+ years of experience using established Data Quality Tools (Informatica Data Quality, Collibra, Precisely Data Quality 360, Talend, Ataccama etc.)
- Advanced SQL skills required for querying and interpreting data structures, applying validation logic, and analyzing profiling and anomaly detection outputs.
- Experience using Data Governance Platforms (Informatica Data Governance & Catalog, Collibra Catalog, Alation Data Governance, MS Purview, etc.)
- Experience using the Cloud Platform, Google Cloud Platform Dataplex preferred.
- Experience creating DQ dashboards/KPIs for stewardship or program monitoring by using BI Analytics tools, Power BI preferred.
- Working knowledge of data lineage and impact analysis concepts and tools.
- Strong ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders (analytics, IT, operational).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Past experience within manufacturing/wholesale distribution a plus.
- Experience in Agile project management methodologies a plus.
