About your role :

In the role as Data Protection Officer you are responsible to perform a 2nd Line of Defense Data protection role and lead all corresponding measurements, controls as well as the supporting Governance.

As Data Protection Officer your role is to ensure that FIL Fondsbank is compliant with the Data Protection Regulation. You serve as the main point of contact within the organization for staff members, data stewards, regulators and relevant public authorities on issues related to data protection. You will as well pro-actively support the specific business areas with regards to questions how to comply with the relevant regulation.

As Data Protection Officer you are accountable and responsible for:

  • Ensuring that company policies are in compliance with codes of practice such as GDPR and BDSG

  • Analysis and optimisation of business processes and IT infrastructure and functions with regard to the processing of personal data

  • Promoting a culture of data protection and compliance across the firm

  • Carrying out and continuously improve a data protection impact assessment

  • Establishing a control plan and conduct audits to ensure compliance and to address potential issues

  • Management of personal data breaches, including assessment if reporting to DPA is required

  • Management of Data Subject Requests

  • Ensuring compliance of outsourcing contracts with service providers

  • Production of the list of processing activities

  • Providing employees with training incl. data stewards

  • Annual and ad hoc reporting to the Management Board

  • Establishing a control framework which is continuously monitored in accordance to regulation development and market standards

About you :

You are a suitable candidate for the role if you have/are:

  • A University degree in Economics / Law or a comparable field of studies

  • At least 2 years’ experience in Data Protection. Acting as a DPO or Deputy. Ideally you gained this experience in the financial industry

  • An in depth understanding of the German and European regulation (BDSG / GDPR)

  • Self-motivated with strong organisational skill, the ability to prioritise in a multi-task environment and meet deadlines while working in a high pressure environment

  • A pro-active team player with the ability to work independently

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral and you are able to communicate at all levels

  • Fluent in both German and Business English.
