Data Product Lead (LLD)

  • Join the Data Solutions Team at an exciting time as we gear up to productionise the RBNZ's new loan level data collection.

  • You'll be working closely with business stakeholders to build a suite of data products utilising the new collection.

  • Fixed term role until December 2026, Wellington or Auckland based.

Kaupapa mahi  |  Role purpose

The Data Product Lead is responsible for leading the design and build of data products for new data collections.

Ngā kawenga matua  |  Key responsibilities

  • Leading and coordinating the design and build of new data products that enable RBNZ to maximise value from loan level data, including:

    • Identifying data product requirements

    • Assessing the need for data and being able to define scope and priority

    • Designing and building data products for varying audiences, e.g. PowerBI reports and external facing data tables

    • Evaluating the effectiveness of data products and managing updates.

  • Ensuring data products are well documented, e.g. design documentation and user manuals.

  • Training others in the design or use of data products.

  • Operating with a one team mentality by collaborating with others to enable ‘best for RBNZ’ outcomes.

  • Demonstrating our values and behaviours consistently to support our desired culture.

  • Supporting the integration of Te Tiriti, Te Ao Māori and diversity, equity and inclusion within our organisation.

Wheako whai take  |  Relevant experience

  • A tertiary qualification in data science, computer science, finance, economics, statistics or related disciplines.

  • A minimum of six years relevant work experience in statistics and/or a financial institution preferred.

  • The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, and to engage with technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Proven experience designing and building data products that demonstrate good data visualisation principles and meet the ongoing needs of users.

  • Experience in a mix of Snowflake, dbt, SQL, PowerBI, Excel, R, Python, and Azure would be an advantage.

  • A strong understanding of data-handling systems, processes and warehousing.

  • Proven experience training or mentoring others.
