Data Platform Owner

Summary

We are looking for a hands-on and cloud-proficient Data Platform Owner to join our Data & BI team. This role is critical in ensuring the operational health, scalability, and reliability of our Data Platform. You will be responsible for owning and maintaining the platform’s Infrastructure as Code (IaC) repositories, driving automation, and ensuring the platform is secure, performant, and future-proof.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Data Platform’s operational health: Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize performance across all layers of the platform.
  • Manage and maintain IaC repositories (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.): Ensure infrastructure is version-controlled, automated, and aligned with best practices.
  • Drive cloud-native architecture: Lead the evolution of our platform towards a Lakehouse architecture on AWS.
  • Ensure platform reliability and scalability: Implement observability, alerting, and self-healing mechanisms.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to align platform capabilities with user needs.
  • Document and communicate: Maintain clear and up-to-date technical documentation and operational runbooks.
  • Coach and support: Guide development teams in using platform components effectively and securely.
  • Maintain and evolve the Data Platform architecture (currently Teradata, Databricks on AWS, Qlik).
  • Lead platform upgrades, migrations, and cloud transitions.
  • Ensure compliance with security, governance, and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects to align with global architecture.
  • Support data teams with onboarding, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Stay current with cloud platform roadmaps and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Platform operations, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps.
  • Proven track record of managing cloud-based data platforms.
  • Strong experience with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of AWS cloud platform and its data services.
  • Experience with Lakehouse architectures, Databricks, and Snowflake.
  • Proficiency in monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, ELK).
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve platform bottlenecks and incidents.
  • Solid grasp of data security, access control, and cost optimization in cloud environments.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Practical mindset with a focus on automation, reliability, and scalability.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Fluent in English.
