We are currently seeking a Data Governance Summer Intern to join our team. At 407 ETR, we are committed to providing meaningful work experiences that empower early career professionals. Our internship program is designed to support your growth, enhance your resume, and pave the way for a successful career.  As a intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience, learn from industry experts, and contribute to real-world projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and maintenance of enterprise data catalogues (metadata capture, definitions, lineage and ownership)

  • Work with data stewards and data owners to document data elements, business rules, and data quality considerations

  • Prepare presentations, status updates, and supporting materials for the Data Governance Council and related forums

  • Support projects to ingest and onboard new data sources by coordinating metadata requirements and documenting source-to-target details

  • Use SQL and/or Python to assist with metadata profiling, basic analysis, and validation to support cataloging and data quality efforts

  • Having fun while learning a ton and contributing to 407 ETR’s data maturity transformation!

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a university/college program (e.g., Information Systems, Computer Science, Data/Analytics, Business, or related)

  • Working knowledge of SQL; Python is an asset (for analysis, automation, and/or data profiling)

  • Interest in data governance, data management, and how organizations use data to make decisions

  • Exposure to cloud data environments (AWS preferred) and foundational understanding of databases and data concepts

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to document processes, definitions, and standards clearly

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working with both technical teams and business stakeholders

  • Comfortable working with multiple business lines (e.g., Revenue Optimization, Business Strategy, HR, Finance) and balancing competing priorities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an interest in improving data quality and consistency
