Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY:

Drives data governance and strategy with a “Data as a Product” through the “Governance as a Service” mindset. Partners across the Operations Department within a Shared Services Organization supporting Lines of Business, Risk/Compliance professionals, technology, and business line leaders to support and maintain data governance practices and processes within Operations as it relates to Consumer, Business, Money Movement, Claims, Disputes, Complaints, Payments, and Contact Center data and analytics usage. Thorough knowledge across application of Business Intelligence tools (e.g.: Power BI or other BI Tools) and Data concepts including ETL, ELT, and Azure required, including Power BI Semantic Model Management and Data Lineage Practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports the team in development of Power BI Semantic Data Models (Including Non-Human Access Management) to accelerate market readiness of data modelling for both Operations and Technology
  • Leads, mentors and develops a team of data governance, modelers, and analysts supporting a multitude of advanced data governance proficiencies (Catalogues, Lineage, Quality, Power BI Data Modeling)
  • Ensures that strong controls are in place to deliver data that is fit for purpose within operations or for assigned system of record, provisioning point or business process(s).
  • Supports internal teams through hosted Governance discussions to ensure alignment, QnA, technical support and long-term sustainability of the Data Strategy & Governance product pillars. Participate in working groups to advise on recommendations for developing our enterprise data governance capabilities.
  • For data that is not meeting expectations, quality expectations, or where there are insufficient controls, ensures clear requirements are defined, and remediation approaches and plans are in place to improve.
  • Facilitates development of business data flows and control documentation as well as performs control assessment review for all high-risk reports.
  • Participates in working groups to advise on recommendations for developing our enterprise data governance capabilities.
  • Ensures compliance with the enterprise data governance / data strategy policy and guidance & adopt enterprise solutions.
  • Is knowledgeable about consumers use and needs for the data delivered within the business line in support of internal and external business line functions.
  • Supports manager in development and documentation of OKRs and KPIs, identification of risk and development of remediation approaches and plans.
  • Supports operations maintain critical data information in the Data Metrics & Definitions Product and supporting quality rules/profiling of data in collaboration with the Data Quality Leader.
  • Actively ensures compliance with the U.S. Bank Code of Ethics and all Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, information security and suspicious activity reporting requirements, policies and procedures. Actively participates in any required corporate and business line training in these areas.
  • Follows account opening procedures and understands and follows internal suspicious activity referral requirements and processes, as required for this position.

SPECIFICATIONS:

A Leader who manages a team of data governance analysts & Power BI Data Modelers supporting Data Mapping, Data Lineage, and Data Catalogues, and Data Model Acceleration program, who works independently under minimal supervision.

  • Strong technical/functional understanding of systems and platforms such as Power BI, Power BI Semantic Model, Cloud Infra (Azure, AWS), and Cloud Data Tools (Snowflake, Databricks) and multiple types of SQL (DB2, Oracle, MS SQL Server).
  • Strategically assesses business needs and recommends approaches for both short-term success and long-term success across the data landscape as it pertains to serving data consumers and quality expectations.
  • Strong analysis skills. Communicates well across Technical and Business partners in multiple business lines and countries globally. Great problem-solving skills.
  • Great risk documentation skills and the ability to hold teams accountable for sustaining data governance in the work that they do.
  • Assists team members in identifying development opportunities and manages workflow effectively through planning and continuous improvement accountability practices.

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
