About the Hiscox Data Team

The Europe Data Team is a cross‑country, multidisciplinary group responsible for driving and enabling Hiscox Europe’s data capabilities. We combine expertise in Data Engineering, Data Analysis, and Data Management to deliver high‑quality data pipelines, insightful reporting, and strong governance frameworks, working closely with business teams across Europe.

Our mission is to ensure trusted, consistent, and accessible data that empowers smarter decision‑making and supports the evolution of our enterprise Hiscox Data Strategy.

The Role

The Data Governance Analyst, part of the Europe Data Team, supports the implementation of new data management practices at Hiscox Europe using Informatica. This position focuses on key functions like data quality, lineage, catalogues, business glossaries, and reference data—building a strong analytics foundation.

The role is integral to the Hiscox Data Strategy, requiring close collaboration with the Group Data Management team to consistently enhance and standardise the Informatica solution across Business Units. It offers the chance to help shape Hiscox strategic data transformation while also supporting ongoing and business‑as‑usual activities.

Key Responsibilities

Data Management Delivery & Maturity

  • Support the migration of the current Informatica Cloud Data Governance Catalogue (IDMC) into an enterprise‑wide deployment across Business Units;
  • Work with Group and Business Unit Data teams to embed Data Ownership and Accountability;
  • Assist with identifying and tagging Key Data Elements (KDEs), assigning Data Owners/Stewards, documenting lineage, and defining data quality controls;
  • Participate in Data Forums and Working Groups both at Group and Business Unit level.

Business & Data Analysis

  • Analyse data quality issues and drive corrective actions at source;
  • Monitor data quality trends through dashboards, reports, and profiling;
  • Assess BAU changes affecting business mappings and ensure alignment with business needs;
  • Provide guidance to data consumers on business concepts and self‑service usage.

Data Quality & Tooling

  • Maintain and update Informatica assets (data quality rules, glossary terms, workflows, metrics, data portfolio);
  • Monitor Informatica job execution, catalogue updates, and data quality scoring;
  • Support the rollout and adoption of Data Management capabilities across European applications;
  • Ensure alignment with Group Data Management to standardise and enrich the enterprise Informatica solution.

Skills

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and analytical/reporting tools used for data analysis;
  • Previous experience with Data Management tools (Informatica preferable, SAS, Talend or any other relevant).

Functional Skills

  • Ability to translate business needs into clear technical requirements;
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain insights to non‑technical stakeholders;
  • Experience in Data Management roles (2+ years), e.g. Data Quality;
  • Background in Business Intelligence or Data & Analytics roles (3-5 years);
  • Experience in functional analysis, ideally within the insurance industry;
  • Knowledge in Data Security and GDPR compliance is a plus.

Education & Languages

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field;
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
