We have an exciting new job opportunity in our R&D IT department at our Global Technology Center in Prague focused on developing and applying advanced capabilities in information sciences, data analytics and big data, and are looking to hire a Data Engineer - R&D Dashboarding.

The purpose of this role is to translate complex scientific and business questions into intuitive, data-driven solutions that accelerate decision-making across Animal Health R&D.

The role bridges data science, domain understanding, and user-centric design, helping teams move faster from exploratory questions to actionable insights.

By combining advanced analytics, close collaboration with scientists, and rapid prototyping (e.g. Figma), this position enables the creation of scalable, reusable analytics assets and visual concepts that inform discovery and development decisions while remaining adaptable to evolving research needs.

In this position, the successful candidate will report to the R&D Informatics product-line lead by working with our Drug Discovery teams driving and implementing solutions to accelerate research and pharmaceutical development projects. In addition to working alongside a world-class team of scientists in driving R&D activities, the Software Engineer will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the company’s R&D functions throughout various phases of drug development. Responsible for cleaning, analyzing and interpreting chemical and biological data, analyzing, and testing virtual screening data. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in implementing data analysis, extraction in drug research including technical expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain dashboards, visualizations, and decision-support tools (e.g., Power BI, Spotfire, Pipeline Pilot, Knime or similar platforms)

• Collaborate with Animal Health R&D scientists and business stakeholders to understand scientific questions, workflows, and decision points

• Design and develop data-driven analytics solutions, from exploratory analysis to reusable pipelines

• Create conceptual UI / UX mock-ups and prototypes using Figma, translating analytical ideas into user-friendly designs

• Support end-to-end data integration, combining diverse data sources into coherent analytical views

• Actively participate in iterative solution design, incorporating feedback from scientists and product owners

• Contribute to the evolution of generic, scalable analytics pipelines that can be reused across R&D projects

• Communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

The primary activities include but are not limited to:

• Build, maintain, and optimize ETL/data pipelines to ingest, transform, and prepare R&D datasets from multiple sources

• Design and implement robust data models that support reporting and dashboarding use cases

• Develop, deploy, and maintain exploratory interactive dashboards and reports to communicate R&D metrics, trends, and insights to scientific and business stakeholders

• Collaborate with scientists, statisticians, data analysts, and product owners to translate analytical needs into dashboard requirements, metrics, and visualizations

• Ensure data quality through cleansing, validation, and monitoring; implement checks and alerts for pipeline health and data integrity

• Work with cloud and infrastructure teams to deploy and scale dashboarding solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) as needed

• Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory analyses to quickly surface insights for R&D teams

• Assist in prototyping new visualization approaches, gather user feedback, and iterate on designs to improve usability and clarity

• Contribute to team agile processes; participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives

• Includes specializations within domains, such as Chemistry or Biology

Requirements

• Academic level – e.g., graduated bachelor’s or master’s degree in one of the STEM fields, ideally applied on Biochemistry

• Solid programming skills and knowledge of databases, SQL, Informatica and statistical methods

• 2–5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related role focused on reporting/dashboarding

• Strong SQL skills and experience designing data models and ETL processes

• Hands-on experience with at least one dashboarding/BI tool (e.g., Power BI, Power Platform, Pipeline Pilot, Knime, Looker, or Spotfire)

• Familiarity with scripting for data tasks (e.g. Python)

• Experience working with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) or cloud-hosted analytics services

• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional R&D teams

Nice to Haves

• Experience with modern data platforms or frameworks (e.g. Databricks, Spark, dbt, Airflow)

• Background in pharma, biotech, or scientific R&D environments

• Basic understanding of statistics or data science concepts to support R&D interpretation

• Strong interest in improving how scientists interact with data through design and tooling
