Responsibility:

The Data Engineer is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to optimize manufacturing processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance product quality. They leverage statistical analysis and data visualization to drive efficiency improvements, prevent equipment downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, the Data Engineer communicates data insights effectively to stakeholders, contributing significantly to the production of life-saving medicines at our manufacturing site. 

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

The Data Engineer role will have two primary responsibilities:

To partner with the Alzey Site Tech @ Lilly leader and other functions, locally and globally, to generate a data strategy with a portfolio of Alzey data projects.  Once completed, deliver upon the agreed strategy and portfolio to impact business results over the long-term.

Leading small to medium sized projects for new data solutions implementation at Alzey.

In this capacity, the Data Engineer will:

  • Create informative and user-friendly dashboards, reports and tools to communicate data insights to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
  • Utilize advance analytics to prevent downtime to optimize equipment performance and business processes. 
  • Collect, clean, and analyze data from various sources, including manufacturing equipment, quality control systems, and laboratory instruments. Use statistical methods and data visualization tools to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Ensure that Data solutions adhere to regulatory requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). 
  • Partner with business areas to ensure understanding of current business processes and influence strategic direction as it relates to data collection and analysis.
  • Leverage knowledge of local business process needs and strategic direction to influence global data solutions.
  • Facilitate collaboration between local business, Tech @ Lilly and global programs to ensure common understanding of business processes and system capabilities, and to identify opportunities.
  • Influences business areas’ understanding of their own business processes, identifies new opportunities, challenges the status quo, and helps develop recommendations for using data and data techniques to improve business process productivity.
  • Understand global data architecture and replicate solutions from global groups.
  • Leverages and integrates external best practices and approaches in recommendations and solutions, as appropriate.
  • Influences changes to Tech @ Lilly standards to meet evolving business or industry directions.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in Germany. Lilly does not provide sponsorship for employment visa status for this employment position.
  • English fluency, German proficiency preferred

Other Information:

  • Travel may be required to other Manufacturing sites in US and/or Europe
  • In Office requirement, not a Hybrid or Remote position
