The Position:
- Leverage the Microsoft BI Stack to perform data engineering functions including: data ETL/ELT, data warehousing operations, creating operational data stores, and developing master data management solutions
- Create data & analytics solutions
- Craft and execute data queries in order to present information through reports and visualizations
- Participate in multiple projects as a data team member
- Diagnose and resolve complex data issues
Principal Accountabilities:
- Translate business needs to technical specifications
- Design, build and deploy analytics solutions while following established data architecture patterns & rules and using established deployment pipeline processes
- Maintain, optimize and support data analytics data structures in an enterprise data warehouse
- Create and update Tabular data models
- Conduct unit testing, troubleshooting and data validation
- Evaluate and improve existing analytic systems
- Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
- Develop, tune and execute database queries and conduct database analyses
- Create proof-of-concept projects to demonstrate ideas and proposed changes to the business
Position Requirements:
- Understand complex data architecture including enterprise data warehouse structures
- Familiarity with cloud-based data pipelines
- Proven ability as a data warehouse developer or similar skills as a Business Intelligence developer
- Understanding of Dimensional Modeling concepts and design
- In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL/ELT frameworks
- Experience with SCM, SVN, GIT, VS, HTML, SQL, Python, Bash, Powershell. etc
- Understanding of key metrics, measures, statistical concepts used in business data analysis
- Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative
- Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
- BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or 3-5 years of relevant experience in Data engineering
- Medium to Advanced T-SQL skills
- Experience with an ETL/ELT tool like SSIS, ADF or Talend
- Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau
- Experience with data modeling tools like SSAS
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred:
- Experience in creating data pipelines making use of API calls
- Familiarity with Azure data platform options and tools like Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory and Azure Logic Apps
- Familiarity with common large scale data ecosystems, data lake architecture and use cases that involve structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
- Understanding DAX patterns and ability to write DAX queries
- Familiarity with Dataverse
