About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Hive, Spark, and Python to join our growing data engineering team. The role involves designing and building scalable, high-performance data pipelines and working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver reliable, business-impacting data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) following industry best practices
- Perform data ingestion, transformation, and processing using Hive, Spark, and Python
- Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions by collaborating with product owners, analysts, and other stakeholders
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding, security, and data quality standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve production data pipeline issues within defined SLAs
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by adopting new tools, frameworks, and best practices
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members, as required
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 6–8 years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering or related fields
- Strong experience working with large-scale, distributed data systems
- Proven ability to deliver end-to-end data solutions in cloud-based environments
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery models
Technical Skills
Must Have:
- Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, GCS, Dataflow or equivalent GCP services)
- Apache Spark
- Hive
- Python
- Data Pipelines, ETL / ELT frameworks
Good to Have:
- Understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures
- Experience with version control and collaboration tools such as Git
- Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
