Our location in Columbus, OH, currently has an opportunity for a Data Engineer. This position requires a balance of technical skills, teamwork, strong communication and critical thinking.  Responsible for refining and maintaining the data environment for the Therapeutic Nutrition Sales Analytics team and associated field sales segments.  Additionally, the position will be a key player in the development of tools to help assist management and the field sales teams in driving results for the business.  The candidate must be capable of working under general direction while leveraging input from team members and functionality of available tools/resources to deliver efficient and timely results.  Must demonstrate the willingness to learn the business, challenge the status quo and balance multiple priorities while keeping a positive and inquisitive mind-set.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Continuous upkeep and improvement of the data environment which requires input from multiple sources.  The candidate must possess the ability to understand key performance indicators and metrics through engagement with various cross-functional partners, develop efficient methods of preparing the data and the ability to clearly communicate effective use of the data to team members.

  • Consistently staying abreast of industry/company direction and evaluate different options to help shape the long-term direction of the team.  Key contact for internal IT and all third-party data tool vendors.

  • Delivering timely inputs to sales and other cross-functional teams. Key member of informal project teams tasked with development of sales reporting, incentive measurement, customer-facing deliverables and other items as required.

  • Other related tasks as assigned by manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

  • Typically requires 4-6 years of progressive finance, operations, analytics, or IT experience which includes analytics and/or sales support responsibility.

  • In depth knowledge Azure SQL Server/Synapse - Transact-SQL (DDL & DML)

    • Know how to create tables, views, stored procedures, functions using only SQL scripts

    • In depth knowledge of SQL Server SELECT (window functions, sub selects, recursive relationships, etc).

    • Understand how to performance tune / index tables, add constraints

    • Explain data types and general differences varchar, integer, bigint, decimal, real.

  • Understand and be able to explain data flow from/to a reporting tool like Tableau (possibly Power BI).
    ex: explain the flow of data from an Azure Synapse database all the way to an (on premise physical) Tableau server user using a web browser.

  • Familiarity with Azure Data Factory

  • Ability to convey message clearly, concisely, and accurately, both verbally and through report development.

  • Demonstrates initiative, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in team settings.

  • Willingness and aptitude to balance day-to-day responsibilities and new projects/challenges to help the business and team evolve.

  • Ability to form interpersonal, professional relationships across the internal and field sales teams.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Azure Logic Apps, Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI

  • Fundamental understanding of authentication/authorization concepts
    Example
      understand difference between windows and SQL Server authentication.
      understand concept of what “row level security” means.

  • Fundamental cloud concepts
    Difference between ETL and ELT

  • Fundamental data warehousing/data mart concepts.

  • Understand and be able to explain “star schema” and why is it important?

  • Explain difference between OLTP and OLAP.

The base pay for this position is

$60,000.00 – $120,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
